LAS VEGAS (LALATE) – Marquez vs Diaz 2 (2010) results are in. Marquez v Diaz II results and winners in undercard fights for Juan Manuel Marquez-Juan Diaz had some surprises earlier tonight.

MAIN EVENT – Marquez vs Diaz. Marquez is the winner by unanimous decision. Final scores are Jerry Roth (116-112), Glenn Trowbridge (118-110), and Patricia Morse Jarman (117-111).

Trainer Ignacio Nacho Beristain said of his fight Marquez before tonight the following: “Juan Diaz was saying that he is a warrior. He is a great warrior. They call him the ‘Baby Bull’ for a reason and combine that with Juan Manuel Marquez and you will have a great fight. Golden Boy Promotions put together a great undercard and I think all of the fights are going to be good ones.”

UNDERCARD FIGHTS

First, Linares is the winner in Linares vs Juarez. Jorge Linares (29-1, 18 KOs) of Barinas, Venezuela defeated in a 10-round unanimous decision Rocky Juarez (28-7-1, 20 KOs) of Houston, Tex. Linares picks up the WBA Fedelatin lightweight (135 pounds) title. Final scores were 99-90 (Dave Moretti), 99-90 (Ricardo Ocasio) and 97-92 (Al Lefkowitz). Linares said of his win “I was fighting with one hand from the beginning of the fight. When I dropped him, it hurt my left hand. I had to be really careful because he was really dangerous and he could really take a punch. I was never tired, but I was always worrying about his experience. I don’t want the little belt. Now, I want the world title next.”

Second, Guerrero is the winner in Guerrero vs Casamayor. Robert Guerrero (27-1-1, 18 KOs) of Gilroy, CA. in 10-round unanimous decision defeated Joel Casamayor (37-5-1, 22 KOs), of Guantanamo, Cuba in the junior welterweights (140 pounds) class. Final scores werer 98-89 (Robert Hoyle), 98-89 (Dick Houck), and 97-90 (Lisa Giampa).

Third, Pirog is the winner of Pirog vs Jacobs. Dmitry Pirog (17-0, 14 KOs), of Temryuk, Russia defeated in a fifth round knockout Daniel Jacobs (20-1, 17 KOs), of Brooklyn, NY earning the vacant WBO middleweight (160 pounds) title.

LAS VEGAS (LALATE) – RESULTS.  Does the Marquez vs. Diaz II already have a winner? Yes, claims an Octopus hired by Oscar De La Hoya to predict the results of tonight’s Marquez vs. Diaz II fight.

Since Paul the Octopus in Germany is retired since the World Cup, De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions hired the “Giant Pacific Octopus” at the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay (home to tonight’s fight).

The octopus has predicted tonight’s winner will be Marquez.

“Let’s see if the octopus that picked Marquez to win Saturday night will be as accurate as Paul was during the World Cup,” said Richard Schaefer, CEO Golden Boy Promotions. “Either way, we are going to have a great night of boxing from top to bottom as this is one of the strongest events we have ever had for the fans watching in the arena and on pay-per-view. All of these match-ups have the potential of being fight of the year for 2010.”

“I’m glad that it all worked out,” said Schaefer who terms his results prediction an “Octo-Pick”. “I thought that it was pretty exciting.”

De La Hoya calls Diaz ” a tremendous warrior, tremendous champion and a tremendous human being who believes he can beat Juan Manuel Marquez. Their first fight was an epic battle back and forth which is why the Boxing Writers Association of America chose their fight as the best fight of 2009. It is a different story now. It is 2010, Juan Diaz is a different fighter and Juan Manuel Marquez is a different fighter. They have more experience under the belts, more training under their belts. It is going to be an explosive fight.”

LAS VEGAS (LALATE) – Where can you watch Marquez vs. Diaz II? What channel is the Juan Manuel Marquez-Juan Diaz fight on? The Marquez vs. Diaz fight can’t be watched on several different locations tonight.

Marquez vs. Diaz II will air on HBO Sports starting at 9 PM ET / 6 PM PST with undercard fights. Some early undercard fights have already been airing on other free Direct TV channels since 7 PM ET / 4 PM PST.

NEW YORK (LALATE) – “Did Criss Angel die”? That will be the question viewers will state following an August 4 broadcast. A&E reveals this week that Angel may plummet to his death in the Mindfeak Season 6 premiere that night.

Criss Angel’s Mindfreak Season 6 revelations by A&E this week include a notable comment by the cabler. A&E warns local news that Criss will return this August, but could die in the first episode. “In his most amazing and dangerous demonstration to date, Criss attempts to jump the Grand Canyon on a high-performance hybrid motorcycle. He will either miraculously appear inside a locked cage dangling from a helicopter or plummet 4,200 feet to his death.”

“Did Criss Angel die” has remained a viral reaction to many of his notable previous season episodes. In 2008, the concern was whether Angel died during a car explosion stunt (pictured above). Kurt Angle said of that  car explosion: “It blew my mind, my nerves were shot. I thought it was a stunt that definitely went wrong. I saw him chained, I saw him in the car and saw him go over (the edge). I thought ‘Oh my god, this is a tragedy, something went wrong’.”

Criss Angel has said the following about his ability to cheat death: “Illusion is what you see. Magic is what you feel. It’s time to start thinking outside the box and let the art of magic live on in real life. I hope to be engaging my audiences by having them ask themselves… What is real and what is illusion? That is truly the magic of emotion.”

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Is Sarah Scott in and Lindsay Lohan out for the Linda Lovelace flick “Inferno”? When Sarah Scott was asked by local news this weekend if reports of Lohan being dropped from the film and replaced by Scott are true, Scott reportedly had no comment. Sarah Scott was spotted in Los Angeles this weekend with script in hand when local news asked her if the reports were correct.

Reports say that Lohan has been pulled from the film because of a reported production shooting schedule set for August 2010 and Lohan set to enter a rehab facility during the same time.

Sarah most recently heated up Nip Tuck and True Blood for one episode each; Scott also played a secretary in Days of our Lives two years ago. She filled the role of “Beautiful Kitty” in two episodes in Arrested Development back in 2005.
