The earthquake was southwest of Oaxaca, near the Santiago Pinotepa Nacional area, northwest of Puerto Escondido and San Pedro Pochutla. The Mexico earthquake was southeast of Chilpancingo de Los Bravos and Acapulco.

In April this year, a 5.0 earthquake struck Guerrero. Today’s terremoto struck at 2:23 AM PST today. The terremoto was felt widely across Mexico because of its shallow depth. The earthquake registered only a depth of 12.4 miles and was roughly 200 miles from Mexico City.
