Mexico Earthquake Today Near Acapulco

ACAPULCO MEXICO (LALATE) – News of a major a 6.2 earthquake striking Mexico today. The Mexico earthquake today was close to Acapulco and Oaxaca and shook the coastal communities of the Country in the early morning hours Wednesday.
This is the second significant earthquake to strike Mexico in recent weeks. In April 2010 a 5.0 earthquake registered close to Zihuatanejo and Michoacan.
But today, at 2:23 AM PST, residents of the western coast of Mexico were awaken as this 6.2 quake struck the hills, near Chilpancingo de Los Bravos, Acapulco, Puerto Escondido, and San Pedro Pochutla.

Today’s quake registered 12.4 miles below the earth’s surface, roughly 80 miles from Oaxaca, 90 miles from Huajuapan de Leon, close to Puerto Angel, and roughly 220 miles southeast of Mexico City.
Unlike recent earthquakes in Mexico, today’s quake has yet to register an significant aftershocks. The quake was southwest also of Tehuacan and south east of Manzanillo. No reports of injuries have been revealed.

I must have slept right through that earthquake. Most of the people here are still talking about the flooding from a couple of days ago.
