Jacob Wetterling Search Continues

ST JOSEPH, MINN (LALATE) – A search for missing Jacob Wetterling took to an area of St Joseph today. Jacob Wetterling went missing in 1989 in a section of Stearns County. Yesterday, a County judge issued a search warrant for a property not far from where Jacob went missing in 1989. Chief Deputy Bruce Bechtold of the Stearns County Sheriff’s Department could not confirm any details other than an investigation by court order was underway at that property today and will continue at least through Thursday.
FBI confirmed its involvement in the search and informed local news that they would continue to support on the search warrant effort through Thursday. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children added resources to the area.
Jerry Wetterling told Pioneer Press that there have been 30,000+ leads in the case, some resulting in month long investigations. Often, he says, he doesn’t know much of the details of the search. He adds that never lets his family get too high or too low as each search commences.
Jacob went missing October 22, 1989 following an abduction by a masked gunman.
