HARTFORD (LALATE) – PHOTOS. Brooke Hundley, Steve Phillips’ ESPN mistress, is suing ESPN. Brooke Hundley’s affair and pics with Phillips heated up news in 2009. Before Tiger Woods, it became the biggest affair scandal to hit sports that year.

Now news today of a new development – Hundley is suing her former employer ESPN. In November, Brooke Hundley first spoke about her scandal affair, saying that people were too quick to judge her. Steve Phillips would loose his job, loose his marriage, all for an affair Phillips claimed was short.

But now Hundley says she lost her job wrongly, claiming wrongful termination and defamation. According to the suit, ESPN returned Hundley to work, “…so long as she and Mr. Phillips avoided contact with each other, outside of what was reasonably required to do their respective jobs.”

A press release today explains what Hundley claims happened next:

“The lawsuit claims that when ESPN questioned Hundley about Phillips’ statements, including that he was attempting to end the relationship, she flatly denied them. “Plaintiff responded that it was not true and showed ESPN text messages on her phone that proved that Phillips continued to pursue Plaintiff,” the lawsuit reads. Hundley claims she was put on paid administrative leave, and within days, she was fired for “misconduct, including but not limited to failing to fully participate in the investigation.” Hundley claims ESPN closed its investigation more than a month earlier, satisfied with the settlement between Phillips and Hundley, and never sought to re-interview her. She claims that ESPN defamed her by falsely alleging that she failed to participate in an investigation which was already closed.”

Eventually Phillips would enter a treatment facility. Steve Phillips’ rep would confirm “is voluntarily admitting himself to an in patient treatment facility to address his personal issues.”

“The lawsuit asks for lost wages and benefits along with relief for emotional distress, mental anguish, damage to her reputation and attorney’s fees.”

In her November 2009 interview, Brooke Hundley said she’s the victim: “I think people are so quick to make a judgment, it’s almost like ‘here’s a great story. Here’s a great chance for me to … destroy a person’ without any sense of really thinking about the fact that there’s a human being behind those words. I’ve been called things by the public that no woman should ever be called. … I’ve been called a home wrecker.”
