LOS ANGELES – Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s free ticket concerns while appearing with girlfriend Lu Parker (KTLA) are growing.
Lu Parker of KTLA has accompanied Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to a series of events detailed in new LA Observed and FOX-LA reports. The question remains, however, if the Mayor attended with free gifted tickets that he did or didn’t declare.

While some reports now point to alleged tickets over the last few years, the spark beneath this discussion began after the Lu and Anthony appeared last Wednesday, courtside, at the Lakers Playoffs 2010 game.
While Fox 11 ran the story, the Mayor told Fox that he was not the guest of Staples’ AEG but of Jeffrey Katzenberg. Jeffrey Katzenberg sat to the Mayor’s left, Parker to the right, during the game.
The LA Observed however writes last weekend:
“The mayor told Schwada that at the last game he was a guest of his “friend” Jeffrey Katzenberg, and insists that because he’s at the game in an official capacity the tickets don’t have to be reported as gifts.”
Is that correct? Is attendance at an NBA Playoffs game an official capacity for the Mayor? That’s one issue local news are debating this week. But the issue doesn’t end there.
The same paper reports concerns whether the Mayor is not reporting free tickets or mistating their value.
Oscar events at the Kodak theatre at also covered by the LA Observed. The paper claims that the Mayor has allegedly attended the Oscars ever year since 2006; that he allegedly only declared one ticket of a face value of $100 in 2006; that he allegedly didn’t report alleged receipt of tickets in 2007, 2008, 2009, nor 2010; and that the ticket to the Oscars and Governor’s Ball is not $100 but $21,000.
“The only ticket to an awards show, concert or sporting event that Villaraigosa reported as a gift was in 2006, when he attended the Academy Awards at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood as a guest of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He declared receipt of a $100 “ticket discount.” Every year thereafter, Villaraigosa has attended the event without reporting his tickets as a gift.”
