Marla Gurecki-Haskins is a special education teacher at Canandaigua Academy where she is accused of sending inappropriate materials to a minor. Reports say Marla Gurecki-Haskinsis is married with a child.

Marla Gurecki-Haskins was arraigned Monday. A press conference regarding the charges were announced thereafter. Canandaigua Police Chief Jon Welch told press the following:

“Parents need to be very vigilant with e-mail communication, what websites their children are going to, and their phones. I don’t know how far-reaching this incident was. Hopefully no other students were affected, but certainly as a parent I would sit down with my child and have a candid conversation.”

The legal age of consent is 17 in New York so whether or not Marla Gurecki Haskins had contact with the 17 year old male will not be relevant.
