Randy Jackson remarked “I did not love the arrangement.” Ellen added “It’s the type of song you want to sing.” Kara commented “You did get lost in the arrangement.” But Simon said “You haven’t compromised yourself as an artist.”

Lee DeWyze’s Simple Man and Hallelujah drew the following judges comments. Randy remarked “Brilliant song choice.” Ellen added “You took this thing seriously.” Kara commented “You gave it everything you’ve got.” And Simon said “That song was on the money.”
