Tupolev 154 Tu-154M POLAND

The Polish plane crash today was a Tupolev 154 aka Tu-154M. Poland has two Tupolev Tu-154Ms, numbers 101 and 102. The Tupolev 154 that crashed is believed to be 101.
Reports say the Tupolev 154 hit trees while trying to land in dense fog. The Tu-154M is described as the highest upgraded version of the line, launched into production in 1984, using Soloviev D-30KU-154 turbofans. That results in lower fuel use and hence cheaper operational costs.
Just last year, LALATE reported on another Tupolev 154 crashing, a Caspian Airlines Tu-154 en route from Iran to Armenia. That Tupolev 154 plane crash took the lives of 168.
