He stood at only 21 inches. But He Pingping was the biggest story online for one week in September 2008 when He took to Trafalgar Square in London with Svetlana.

Today Guinness remembers He.

Just weeks ago, LALATE profiled He with news of a Guinness World Record threat in store … from Khagendra Thapa Magar!

Magar is only 22 inches and wants the title from He at 29 inches! Magar has been in the press for several month. But now he’s 18 and wants to be recognized as the world’s shortest man. He applied in October to Guinness in London but hasn’t heard a response. He’s wanted the title since age 14 but the book requires him to be at least 18 years of age.

Magar’s dad Rup Bahadur Thapa Magar told press in Katmandu

“We are going to Italy to try to record his name in the Guinness Book of World Records.” Next stop – Italy!

What is it like being in the book? In fall 2008, Svetlana talked to press about the honor of appearing in the new 2009 edition of Guiness Book of World Records to press.

Pankratova says “It’s actually great for me to realize I’m queen of the longest legs on the planet. It just feels good. I actually am proud of it.”

He Pingping called Svetlana Pankratova’s legs “very beautiful.”
