This Idol season is the first in which American Idol set up Twitter accounts for each contestant to push the viral networking reaction of American Idol and their fans. Bottom line – it could mean big trouble for FOX to NOT accept the petition’s weight if the same program wants fans to use social networking to push the show in the first place.
The petition was started by Jessica Bongiorno (which means “Good Morning”). Come Monday, it could be a good morning for Alex if Fox takes action.
How many signatures has Jessica Bongiorno attracted? A stunning 7,842 signatures as of 5 pm PST Saturday. She writes of the petition the following:
“American Idol thrives off OUR voices, its the whole premise of the show. If they want the ratings to soar, bringing back Alex Lambert will undoubtedly do it.
“Just imagine how memorable that episode will be, especially after knowing this all started with a simple signature. LETS DO THIS!
“I am SO beyond proud. People like to talk and throw out ideas every second of every day, but if no action is taken, nothing happens. No contestant, elimination, or performance in Idol history has ever made me run to my laptop as fast as I did last night to create this, and I am SO glad that I did. Alex Lambert is what Idol USED to be about. TALENT. Finding someone we would never otherwise even know existed… taking them from singing in front of a mirror to singing in front of the world… THAT is American Idol. Getting rid of Alex was the worst decision ever made.”

If Alex is brought back, I will switch to AT&T so that I can text my votes for him because I tried calling the last time (when he was wrongfully voted off), and I could not get through for the entire 2 hours. Constant busy signal, and I called at least 50 times, no joke.
