Carlos Slim Helu Richest Man in the World!

Carlos Slim Helú is the Richest Man in the World! Carlos Slim Helú in becoming Richest Man in the World has broken nearly 2 decade records.
How did Carlos Slim Helú become the Richest Man in the World? Two words – América Móvil.
Two decades ago, Helu bought the previously owned Mexican state owned cellphone company América Móvil. And while Helu might be the richest man this year, his net worth for 2011 will again be dependent on how high, or how low, Movil’s stock goes. Carlos’ shares of América Móvil rose 53% in one year. That resulted in his net worth jumping $18.5 billion in one year.
Yes, in one year.
He is now worth $53.5 billion, compared to Gates at $53 billion (who rose $13 billion) and Buffett at $47 billion (who rose $10 billion). .
Forbes says of that rise:
“We’ve been watching Slim for a while and kind of wondered when the stars would align and he would take over.”
Helu has broke two records. First, Carlos Slim Helú is the first non American to top the Forbes List in 16 years. Second, Carlos Slim Helú is the first person to top the Forbes List other than Bill Gates and Warren E. Buffett since 1994.

Bill Gates, Carlos Slim Helú, Warren Buffett

Carlos Slim is definitely old school. He’s of the tried and true “guerrilla billionaire” strategy: buy lots of businesses and either keep them for the cash flow or fix ‘em up and sell them. The goal is to make money off a lot of deals instead of a killing on just one.
