Lee Boyd Malvo has sent an apology letter to John C. Gaeta. Lee Boyd Malvo was the 2002 Baton Rouge sniper who shot Louisiana’s Gaeta and terrorized a city.

On August 1, Malvo shot Gaeta in the neck. Ten people would died that day.

The apology letter dated Feb. 21, 2010 reads: “I am truly sorry for the pain I caused you and your loved ones. I was relieved to hear that you suffered no paralyzing injuries and that you are alive.”

Gaeta says his belief in God helped him overcome the tragedy.
