Start time is 7:30 PM EST 4:30 PM PST.
There are two final Olympic events before tonight’s Olympics Closing Ceremony. Catch Cross Country Skiing At Whistler Olympic Park Men’s 50Km Mass Start Classic, 12:30 p.m. EST; then catch Ice Hockey At Canada Hockey Place Men Gold Medal United States vs. Canada, 3:15 p.m. EST. (Of note, some reports put the Closing Ceremony at 8:30 pm EST not 7:30 PM EST).
Reaction to coverage of the 2010 Olympics has been mixed, at best. While some events have been able to be found live streamed on Ustream or Justintv.com (where you could probably find tonight’s Closing Ceremony), replay videos have not been on Youtube, unlike the previous summer Olympic games, for the most part.
But this Olympics has been plagued by two key factors – lack of a TV schedule for viewers and sport selections for broadcasts. Every day, since the beginning of these Games, one of the top viral queries has been “Today’s Olympic Schedule”. While an Olympic Schedule of events was released, broadcast TV failed to map out in advance for viewers when games could be seen on television. Added to that, the selection of events shown has changed. In previous years, it seemed as though broadcasters would air Ice Skating around the clock. This year it was curling, and more curling.
Catch live streaming video on NBC tonight. Start time is 7:30 PM EST.
The good news is the Medal count, with the US as the only country producing three dozen medals at this game. The US as of Sunday has 36 medals, Germany in 2nd with 29, Canada with 25, and Norway with 22.
With two games remaining, the US is far back in number of Gold medals. Canada is first in golds with 13, Germany with 10, then US with 9 and Norway with 8.
While many of the details are still unknown, the Olympics Closing Ceremony executive producer is already given some hints. Typically any Olympics Closing Ceremony features the passing of the torch and flag from the current to the future host city.
But Executive Producer David Atkins reveals you should see a “celeb-fest” Sunday night.
Nice.
While Atkins isn’t telling which famous Canadian celebrities you will see, and perhaps perform, this could be a no brainer. Sunday will be a “celebration of Canadian humor, talent and innovation” says Atklins
