The spoiler list has been online for now weeks, as first broke to you here. Tonight we will learn if some, yes, some of the names on the list are correct.

Why just some?

In an Idol first, American Idol reveals to press that Idol will announce only some of the Top 24 names tonight, Tuesday, with the remainder of the names revealed on Wednesday.

A two hour event starting at 8 pm tonight on FOX tonight will reveal some names after initial performances. Then at 9 pm on Wednesday the final names in the Top 24 list will be revealed.

Says FOX in an email to press:

“On Tuesday evening, the remaining contestants will take the stage to perform their final solo number in front of Simon, Ellen, Kara and Randy in hopes of singing their way into the Top 24. Following these performances, the judges will deliberate, and for the first time in IDOL history, will announce some of the Top 24 semifinalists.”

Meantime this week Kara DioGuardi slammed Howard Stern as unqualified for American Idol. But Kara DioGuardi’s Howard Stern comments make her look contradictory and evasive in a new interview, as reported first by LALATE

Kara says Stern is not qualified for American Idol in the same week that she says Ellen is perfect.

Kara uses music qualification as a reason to dismiss Howard Stern, but when asked how Ellen has music qualifications, Kara appears to not answer the question Kara says Howard is not a replacement for Simon but when asked how Ellen replaces Paula she appears to not answer that question either.

“[But] I don’t think he has a musical background or any kind of music… anything. I think that Simon — if you’re going to replace Simon — you have to have that background.

“You have to have somebody who knows about signing great artists and being a part of their career from the very beginning to the very end… I think that’s probably a precursor for whoever takes that position if they’re not a big artist who’s been through it themselves.”

Ellen filled the seat emptied by Paula Abdul and Stern if hired would do so for Simon’s chair. But in one interview, Kara slams Stern as not a replacement for Howard but won’t discuss Ellen’s replacement of Paula.

“I really don’t want to speak about Paula’s absence because you can’t really compare Paula and Ellen. They’re completely different and I think they both bring something valuable to the table.”

Kara then says Ellen takes her job seriously. So is the suggestion that Stern would be hired to not take it seriously?

“We’re all there to do one thing and that’s to find the greatest contestant that we can find. That’s what the focus is, and I know Ellen and Simon both take that seriously.”
