Alexander McQueen said there was no rift with him and Isabella Blow. The suicides of Isabella Blow and McQueen were three years apart.

But still today, as broke earlier on LALATE, people are questioning if Isabella Blow’s suicide haunted McQueen who was accused of being discovered by Blow and allegedly having his lucrative 2000 Gucci contract negotiated by Blow only to allegedly get rid of her after the deal.

McQueen disputed any rift with Blow at the time of her suicide.

“These people just don’t know what they’re talking about. They don’t know me. They don’t know my relationship with Isabella.

“People can talk; you can ask her sisters…. That part of the industry, they should stay away from my life, or mine and Isabella’s life. What I had with Isabella was completely disassociated from fashion, beyond fashion.”

Blow’s friend Daphne Guinness said of McQueen:

“She [Blow] was upset that [Alexander] McQueen didn’t take her along when he sold his brand to Gucci. Once the deals started happening, she fell by the wayside. Everybody else got contracts, and she got a free dress”.

In 1996 he replaced Galiano as chief designer at Givenchy. But in 2000 enter into partnership with Gucci. It’s that move and how it impacted Blow that is being revisited today. Allegations included at the time that Blow, who some credit as finding McQueen, was allegedly discarded in his move to Gucci.
