Capt. Phil Harris DEAD – Deadliest Catch Captain Dies

Capt. Phil Harris is dead. Captain Phil Harris of Deadliest Catch has died, his death confirmed moments ago.
Harris has died at age 53 confirms the Discovery Channel.
Discovery Channel says in a statement Wednesday that Harris was “more than someone on our television screen. Phil was a devoted father and loyal friend to all who knew him. We will miss his straightforward honesty, wicked sense of humor and enormous heart.”
On January 30, 2010, Harris suffered a stroke. Sons Jake and Josh update the public about his father’s passing today.
“It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad — Captain Phil Harris. Dad has always been a fighter and continued to be until the end. For us and the crew, he was someone who never backed down. We will remember and celebrate that strength. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. — Jake and Josh Harris”
Harris was a fisherman was 32 years and co owned the Cornelia Marie for 18 years, as profiled on LALATE Iin 2009.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced. Capt Harris will be greatly missed. Send your love.

I am Phil’s age and I always looked forward to his fiestiness. He truly was fun to listen to and his love for his sons was great to see on the screen. We all will miss him.

I will miss Phil, I love this show. My sorrow and sympathies go out to Jake and Josh and all of his Fleet friends and family on the Bering sea for a wonderful father and a tru friend. I know there will be greatness to come in his two sons and the Cornelia Marie. Good luck guys, you have big shoes to fill.
