Last Saturday the scene was the Lucas Oil Slick Mist ARCA race. As covered on LALATE, Patrick qualified 12th and finished 6th. And with that hot finish, JR Motorsports are ready for the next step in Patrick’s career – NASCAR.

Patrick will this Saturday do what many have waited for months for. The location is the Daytona International Speedway.

Patrick has the public’s support. Her crew chief Tony Eury JR said Saturday “It think she can do it. We’re ready to go.”

JR Motorsports’ Kelley Earnhardt tells press: “It’s pretty much a [Sprint] Cup race. So many Cup drivers will be in it, Dale [Earnhardt] Jr., Tony Stewart and many others. She knows how important it is for her to have the respect of the other drivers.”

On Twitter, Patrick tweeted Monday the simple: “Myself and a few others decided to run next weekend. I am pretty excited!”

Race time is 1 pm ET 11 am EST. The race airs on ESPN2 and LALATE will have live online coverage.

At ARCA, Patrick raced up to fifth in the last three lap but eventually close at 6 th, an improvement over her qualifying position of 12th. Patrick’s lowest spot during the race was 17th and held 10th through the majority of the race.

Bobby Gerhart won Daytona followed by Mark Thompson, John Wes Townley, James Buescher and Patrick Sheltra.
