Dwight Freeney Injury UPDATE!

UPDATE! Dwight Freeney’s injury update leaves Freeney uncertain for today’s Super Bowl. The Dwight Freeney injury update today is the same as LALATE has reported all week -
Uncertainty!
Dwight hasn’t taken to the field since January 24. Saturday he did not suit up as expected for practices. Team officials continued with the same mantra - that Freeney is improving.
But apparently not improving to return to the field, at least not yet.
The concern is the same as reported day ago on LALATE - difficulty of lateral movement, and treatment being rushed.
Freeney was reportedly already using a hyperbaric chamber typically used to improve the condition faster. The ankle is reportedly extremely swollen on the outside section causing pivots to be difficult.
Peyton Manning told press:
“It’s hard to speculate at this point. Dwight is one of our best players, we know that. But all season long Coach Caldwell has talked about picking up the bayonet. Someone’s got to step up. If Dwight were not to be able to go that would be tough, but somebody else will step up and we’ll feel confident in whoever that is.”
It’s not good.
The injury is the right ankle, a torn ligament. The Colts claim he is 50/50. Team spokesman Craig Kelley said Sunday that the injury is almost basketball-type in nature:
“He is under the care of our athletic training staff. “Nothing we have seen changes our diagnosis that he is questionable. He has a third-degree, low basketball sprain.”
ESPN reported a “third-degree ankle sprain by definition involves a complete tear of an ankle ligament.”
