Last year’s broadcast pulled in a 3.5 ratings share, while Carrie Prejean’s opposites-broadcast on Miss USA pulled in a 5.0 for NBC.

On Friday night, Miss America aired its preliminary competition and named the following winners:

In the Swimsuit competition, preliminary winners were Miss Puerto Rico Miriam Pabón, Miss New York Alyse Zwick, and Miss Oregon CC Barber. In the Talent competition, preliminary winners were Miss Virginia Caressa Cameron, Miss California Kristy Cavinder, and Miss Michigan Nicole Blaszczyk

Tonight it’s the 89th pageant at 8 p.m. EST on TLC. The host is the dimpled Mario Lopez and the judges are Rush Limbaugh, Brooke White (American Idol) and Paul Rodriguez.

The show will quickly name the semi finalists. Then we go to the finalists. Catch it all 8 pm EST tonight.

SCORE! Current score on the Senior Bowl is 17-13 North leading South. Senior Bowl score has North dominating in the first half, the game now at halftime.

The first TD came from Oregon’s LaGarrette Blount with a 14 yard TD in the second quarter. Also in the quarter, Murray State’s Austen Lane delivered a TD after a fumble recovery led to a 6 yard run.

Leigh Tiffin (Alabama) has delivered two field goals, one 33 yards. And Zac Robinson (Oklahoma State) delivered a 19 yard TD pass to Colin Peek (Alabama).

North Head Coach Jim Schwartz of the Detroit Lions says the following about today’s games:

“All these guys are good players. All these guys deserve to play, and they’re all going to play. Whoever starts or whoever finishes has nothing to do with anything other than paper-covers-rock.”

South’s Head Coach Tony Sparano adds the following:

“I just know that (the Senior Bowl) is a great evaluator for our league. To get to see them compete at this level and see them practice all week is really a good evaluator. At the end of this whole thing, the mental thing is important and how they play is pretty important too.”

Rip Torn tried to rob a bank drunks says cops. Rip Torn’s bank burglary arrest came didn’t smell right.

Cops determined Torn was drunk at the time of the arrest.

He was arrest Friday for allegedly “breaking into a Main Street bank intoxicated, armed with a loaded revolver” reports local press.

The location of Torn’s alleged bank burglary was the Litchfield Bancorp building. Police issued a statement today saying Rip Torn was “with a loaded revolver and was highly intoxicated”.

Torn is reportedly being held on $100,000 bond and has an appearance Monday in Bantam Superior Court to face charges of “carrying a pistol without a permit, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal mischief.”
