But for reference, police say Torn was quite drunk when this crime was allegedly committed, and at the time he was arrested.
The location of Torn’s alleged bank burglary was the Litchfield Bancorp building. Police issued a statement today saying Rip Torn was “with a loaded revolver and was highly intoxicated”.
Exactly one year ago, LALATE reported that Torn yesterday entered a not guilty plea to DUI charges of December 14. Torn, 77, in December 2008 was driving a Subaru when police found him driving in the breakdown lane. Torn refused to take a breath test. But his history with the law didn’t stop there.
Reportedly, “in 2007, Torn pleaded guilty in a New York court to driving while impaired. He was fined and lost his license. In 2004, a Manhattan jury acquitted him of driving drunk and causing a fender-bender.” And yes, the above mug shot is an older one.

Cops determined Torn was drunk at the time of the arrest.
He was arrest Friday for allegedly “breaking into a Main Street bank intoxicated, armed with a loaded revolver” reports local press.
Torn is reportedly being held on $100,000 bond and has an appearance Monday in Bantam Superior Court to face charges of “carrying a pistol without a permit, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal mischief.”
