Why was Mike Leach fired? Texas Tech fired Mike Leach today, but the firing is leaving questions about Mike Leach and Texas Tech unanswered.

On Monday, Texas Tech suspended Mike Leach. On Tuesday, Leach filed a TRO to be given back his coaching position for the upcoming bowl game. Today, Texas Tech fired Leach.

Why the sudden change?

Leach’s contract was five years, $12.7 million. Reports say he was to receive a $800,000 bonus. When was he to receive that bonus? Reportedly tomorrow!

Leach showed up at court today for his TRO on his suspension. When he showed up, Texas Tech fired him.

Ted Liggett, Leach’s attorney, says “Well, he’s not thrilled… We can guarantee that the fight has just begun.”

But the media fight began last night, when Liggett took tv news camera crews to the alleged “shed” and electrical closet on Texas Tech to show neither existed, that allegations of a shed or closet were false.

MAPS – Today’s Baja Mexico earthquakes were felt in Yuma, Arizona, Calexico, Mexicali and San Diego. Yuma to Calexico and even Mexicali are still reacting to the series of earthquakes broke first on LALATE earlier this morning.

While the initial 5.9 struck at 10:48 AM, a 4.9 quake followed with a series of 3.0+ aftershocks still being reportedly as of 1 PM PST today.

The first quake was at 10:48 AM PST, 23 miles south of Calexico. The 5.9 struck 13 miles north west of Guadalupe Victoria, Baja California, Mexico. The quake had a nominal depth of 18 miles causing it to be felt into San Diego and regions of Southern California.
