A 6.4 earthquake struck Taiwan Saturday night local time causing damage in the Taipei, the Hualien hotel, and injury. The Taiwan Earthquake’s depth was significant, 30 miles below the surface. No reports of tsunami alerts were issued. The quake is center roughly 15 miles off the coast of Taiwan.

Damage is believe extensive and injuries are reported, but no deaths as of 7 am PST Saturday. A 2006 quake measuring 6.7 in the region lead to significant utilities outage.
