But USC is now investigating whether its star football player Joe McKnight has also been driving the vehicle. The LA Times this weekend reports McKnight HAS been driving a Land Rover like the one depicted above. So what’s the issue? The Range Rover is not hers, and it’s not his. Rather it’s registered to Scott Schenter, described as a Santa Monica buiness owner (his story up next on LALATE).

If true, that could mean major trouble for McKnight “an arrangement the school is investigating and which may be in violation of NCAA rules. The NCAA prohibits student-athletes from accepting benefits from marketing representatives or agents or “extra benefits” based on their athletic ability.”

McKnight is the Trojan’s top rusher for 2009.

The Times goes on to list incidents in which McKnight was driving the SUV. When asked, McKnight denied driving the car and said his girlfriend drives it. The couple have a 10 month old son and McKnight claims the Land Rover was “my baby mama’s boss’. “

But the “stories” don’t end there, according to the Times. USC’s SVP for Adminstration Todd Dickey says McKnight has already admitted to them before about driving the car. Schenter is in South Africa and did not respond by email requests for comment.
