Bengals Chris Henry is not dead, reports of Chris Henry’s death online are false. Chris Henry’s death reports hit online shortly after his car accident Wednesday.

As of now Thursday (12:30 AM EST 9:30 PM PST), Chris Henry’s condition is serious with differing reports as to the extent of that condition. But Chris Henry’s agent confirms in a statement shortly before midnight Wednesday that the Bengals star is fighting for his life.

Andy Simms of PlayersRep Sports writes:

“We ask everyone to pray for Chris.

“We also ask that you respect the privacy of Chris’ family. Chris is indeed battling for his life tonight, and our thoughts and prayers (are) with him during this extremely difficult time.”

The fake death report stemmed from a false Twitter account. Gregg Rosenthal of NBC reports that “a fake Twitter account led to multiple outlets from newspapers to major sports and news blogs to repeat information that Henry passed away.”

The media’s range of reports as of Thursday are San Jose Mercury News using “seriously injuried”, Fox reporting “very serious”, New York Times as “injured”, and Fox Sports as “dire” and “on life support”.

Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan issued the following statement:

“We are aware he was in an accident and that his injuries are very serious. We are obviously staying in touch with the situation and are ready to offer whatever assistance we can.”

A woman tells FOX she is the mother of Henry’s fiancee, that she herself was not at home at the time of the domestic incident but that her daughter, Henry’s fiancee, is by his bedside currently.

“A woman who identified herself as the fiancee’s mother but declined to give her name told the Charlotte Observer that Henry and his fiancee had been staying at her house while he was on injured reserve and they were making plans for their wedding.

“She said she wasn’t home at the time of the dispute and wasn’t sure exactly what happened, but she said her daughter is at Henry’s bedside at the hospital.”

As reported earlier, the accident happened early Wednesday in the 1100 block of Oakdale Road. Upon arrival, police found Henry already in life threatening condition. Henry would be rushed to Carolinas Medical Center.

Police now confirm as reported earlier on LALATE that Henry jumped onto the pickups back while it was being driven. “The domestic situation continued between the operator and Mr. Henry. At some point while she was driving, Mr. Henry came out of the back of the vehicle.”
