Tag Heuer says the removal has nothing to do with Tiger Woods’ current situation and say it’s because of a current change of focus away from golf.

Really? Local watch sellers have their own opinion of the situation.

In fact, a local seller who displayed the Tiger Woods ad in his store reports people were walking by, seeing the Woods ad, and “smirking”.

“Mr Martello said Woods’s private life was irrelevant to his golfing reputation, but acknowledged the golfer’s transgressions had affected people’s attitudes to Tag Heuer’s advertising. “We’re getting people walking past and they’re looking at the range [of watches] in the wrong way,” he said. “They’re looking, smirking and grinning.” “

But local press found at least two sellers of the Tiger Woods watches who say the watches were selling well and now are, or will, sell even better than before.

One seller said: “I believe that, when things like this happen, circumstances like this can actually boost sales. I have seen it before.” Another seller in Brisbane’s “Watches of Switzerland” store said

“The situation is the Tag rep’ came into our store yesterday and took the Tiger Woods promotional material down. [But] We’ve sold four of Tiger Woods’s Special Edition in the last three days. [Before that] we had two in the window for the last two months and they weren’t moving.”

Local press reports “Tag Heuer general manager Philip Richards said the removal of the posters from up to 100 distributing stores across Australia had nothing to do with recent developments in Woods’s life. “We change our campaigns probably four or five times per annum,” Mr Richards said.”

While Lawton is one of the youngest alleged woman, claiming to have met Woods at age 20, Rist is one of the oldest of the alleged women, 31. Her story was broke in New York Daily News Sunday.
