APRIL RYAN: Was there a concern in this White House that she came out being, some might have called her the ‘belle of the ball,’ overshadowing the first lady at the…
ROBERT GIBBS: I don’t who some are. I’ve never heard that. Again…
RYAN: Well, it’s been bantered around Washington, and it’s been in Democratic circles as well as Republican circles, high-ranking people…
GIBBS: April, I, I, that’s not a station I live in in life.
RYAN: Just answer the question, please.
GIBBS: Are you done speaking so I can?

Ms. Ryan embarassed herself by asking ridiculous questions, and then add to it her arrogance and you get the incident that played out. Take it easy and stick to important topics, not whether the social secretary or the first lady was “the belle of the ball.” That’s not even the issue with the dinner, it was the secret service breaches.

Robert Gibbs doesn’t know that one shouldn’t degrade someone during an interaction. He’s not a professional and shouldn’t have that job, he makes our President look bad

April Ryan is an idiot and this represents what is wrong with today media. Let’s let the tabloids ask trivial “gossip” type questions and reserve the White House press secretary’s time for meaningful discussion. Who cares if the person organizing the party went… Ms. Ryan should be fired for being a moron.

With all of the budget, ecomony and issues with war it’s hard to understand why the media continues to focus on the “Party Crashers”. They are so not deserving of our time and attention. Let’s move on and focus on relevant more issues. Besides….they could never upstage our very classy First Lady!

It is a shame that with the increase in African-American press covering the White House, that we choose to waste important opportunities for real news coverage with “People” Magazine questions. Gibbs’ response seemed fitting given the stupidity of the aggressive questioning about a very stupid topic

Ms. Ryan. You embarrased yourself by showing that you really wanted to be “the bella of the ball”. You are jealous of Desiree Rogers. You are arrogant and a loud mouth. You were rude to tell Mr. Gibss, “just answer the question.” If I were Mr Gibbs, I would never select you to ask me a question again. What difference does it make if Desiree did invite herself. President Obama has already said that he himself is satisfied with the job that she is doing. Case closed. So close your mouth.

Elizabeth…because Gibbs is the bad guy. The only bad question is the one not asked that everyone else is thinking but are scared to speak. Good for April! Gibbs needs to learn a lesson in press decorum. His arrogance is obvious and is a reflection of the attitudes within the WH. April obviously didn’t get the memo about asking only WH-approved questions.

Suggestions for April Ryan- if she wants to be a productive member of the press corps:
Ask about the economy,
Ask about health care
Ask about one of the two wars we are in.
Ask about Dubai
Ask about race relations, unions, bailouts,
Gibb’s comment “take a deep breath” was a bit over the top- but it’s hard to blame him after such a vociferous line of questioning- over something so obvious- Rogers broke tradition- and thats why those two got in. So thats the answer we all know- and April Ryan knew it too- so why ask.
American Urban Radio- serious news or tabloid news-
Maybe Ryan should write for people or the Inquirer.
dont play with journalism Ryan- your too old for more
“young leader” awards- time to grow some style.

1. April has been a WH correspondent since 1997.
2. If you view the ENTIRE video you will see that ALL the reporters were upset with the Press Secretary’s responds and were equally involved in pursuing better answers. He lost his temper w/ April because she was clearly at the forefront in asking the most embarassing and SIGNIFICANT questions.
Here is an idea: don’t pretend to know what you don’t. If you haven’t taken the time to follow her career, don’t assume she is new. She has 27 yrs of journalistic experience. At least 4 presidents know her by her first name.
Here is a better idea: don’t derive your “knowledge” of events form sound bites. become active and engaged in the political process so that when incidents of this nature occur you can speak with an informed voice. Because as much as you may all protest – opinions are not equal.
smh.

Ms. Ryan was completely out of place! Why wouldn’t the person that is putting on the event not be at the event? Don’t most event planners attend the event they have planned?
Stupid Question!!
She came off bitter and ignorant. Sounds like she didn’t get a invite and still pissed. The reason this bothers me is because Ms. Ryan is a extremely gifted journalist but she seems to have some personal issues toward the administration. That’s fine.but can you save it for the real issues?
Now maybe Gibbs was a little glib with his response but I think she asked for it. Forget the stupidity of the question her tone was childish.
I watch the press briefings several times a day and have noticed the press corp was completely submissive toward the Bush administration The were scared out of there pants! I wonder what would have happen if they actually ask pertinent questions when we were preparing to go the war in Iraq?

If this bimbo has 27 years of journalistic experience, we now see why none of the real issues are begin covered.

Rude, unprofessional, arrogant, jealous, petty and mean. That’s how Ms. Ryan came off, whatever her intent. That’s why the public is fed up with journalists. She deserved the talking down she got. She became the story. She looked very small.
on December 6th, 2009 at 1:35 pm
Ms. Ryan is a competent journalist. She, like Jake Tapper of ABC, are seeking to know the truth. Something is not copesetic within the White House and the American Public need to know just what is going on. TOTUS is consistently stating that he is doing ” unprecedented” things – well – he just did by the very fact that he has evoked “separation of powers” by not having his “social secretary” (who by the way is under the auspices of Michelle Obama) speak to Congress hearings. We need for those few journalists to keep asking the questions or this country will soon be on this way to a total government control
