I wasn’t able to celebrate Christmas last year. I fought a very rare cancer called Mantle Cell Lymphoma. I had powerful chemo at a clinic near home, and then went to the City of Hope for a radioactive drug and a stem cell transplant to keep it from coming back, which it wants to do. I am now in complete remission. I watched your and Ellen’s show every day during treatment which helped me laugh! Thank you!

I love you and Ellen so mcuh!! highlights of my day!! My husband had a massive heart attack last December, his first one was at age 26..so therefore no one will insure him, and we cant seem to get any help with his medical bills..we owe about 80,000.00 in dr and hospital bills, and his monthly medicine, i went this past weekend to er..heart troubles, no insurance of course…we are struggling to pay what we have to pay with his dr bills, not sure how we will pay mine, our house needs repairs and his truck is a total wreck and much unreliable..we have went through all our savings just to stay on top of his medical needs, and together we have five children who are older but need our help, one in college, two starting in the fall, and we are stretched, but we keep on giving, to children, homeless, strays, unfortunate, my dream was to open a shelter for anyone who needed someone, i invite any and everyone a place to go for the holidays…but even though we dont have alot to give, we have tons of love to give and we will continue to do that, no matter what shape we get in…LOVE YOU both, so mcuh!! keep those shows coming, best laughter of my day, or tears

i have been watching Oprah since day one, I always wanted to be a participant on the show. I have chills up and down my spine every time I watch the show. I either cry or laugh. This christmas is not going to be a good one. Although (as always) we all will try to make the best of it. M y granddaughter, Janiah has just been diagnosed with a rare cancer Pineoblastoma on Nov 24th. We spent our Thanksgiving in her hospital room. We made the best of it. We were given one- day passes so that 3 of her 6 siblings could celebrate with her. She is a child of God. She is much stronger than we are. I just want her and her family to have a Merry Christmas. As I’m writing this I’m falling apart. Haowever this contest will really lift the spirirts of so many people. As a grandmother, you always want the best for you grands. Well this year will be tough. I spent most of time off from work in the summer traveling. So, the nights I’ve been spending in the hospital and days off from work I don’t get paid for. I Love my granddaughter so much. She is 7yrs old. She has to given a chance. I ask each and everyone of you to pray with me for her. Oprah I hold on to Faith. I am a true believer. But right now I am weak. I just want you to know that I love you, Ilove watching your show. You lift my spirit, you make me laugh and cry at the same time. Please pray with me as WE travel this Journey.

    Dear Oprah,
It has been a very long and challenging journey these last 4 years. I am a single mom of 3 adopted children from India, and oh have they suffered. The reason being I become acutely and critically ill on 8/5/05. This resulted in long and complicated hospital admissions. The first bringing major bowel surgery and the loss of my job as Regional Director for Rehabilitation Services. (I had been with them just over 11 mos., but their policy is if not a year employment you are terminated if hospitalized over 30 days). That brought no income to my family or myself. My adopted sister lives with my children and me and she tried desperately to keep all a float. I have had 19 extended/complicated hospital admissions and 5 surgeries the later resulting in the discovery of a malignant tumor. I am still in recovery and throughout this have had to charge food, use charges for medicine and utilities, sell my van for the pay off (at a great loss), liquidated my small savings and my entire retirement, my sister took a lean against her retirement leaving a huge monthly payment, all the appliances are going, and I had my deceased mothers broken down 1992 tempo until it died on a major highway and I cannot walk very far, and I have been terminated from a 20 year life/retirement insurance plan due to my current health crisis, and finally we have maxed the home equity in order to keep a roof over the family’s head.
Well, we have been blessed throughout this journey: I was able to receive welfare and get my children medical assistance for a time, after no income for 1 year +; my church brought us food and Christmas gifts for the children/sister/me; with a tremendous fight and legal fees I obtained Social Security Disability (which it hurts every day not to work in some capacity—I was an Occupational Therapist for 36 years); by the grace of God and the angels working overtime I got a car; and the carcinoid syndrome is being watch closely but so far no other tumors.
Throughout this journey, my sister and children have had such fear and emotional/financial stress ( I saw the light 3 times) and the burden is still so every present. The debt is $136, 000+ in home equity and charges..now maxed out, and now a car payment of $417,00/month, a mortgage of $185,000.00.. of which late fees and some missed payments have been inevitable. My oldest daughter left school at the time of my diagnosis (she had a full academic scholarship in forensic science) and now lost her job and her unemployment is running out…she contracted a life threatening strain of the H1N1 virus ( which we all contracted when I tried to care for her because she has no health insurance) ( and our dog, Lizzy contracted it and passed in 1 1/2 days after becoming ill).
This all sounds so far fetched but it is my life…as hard as it is to discuss and/or believe.
I am writing you this, because I sent in an entry to The Ellen Degenere’s Show for dough-vember, in hopes that my children and my sister could get on her show and possibly have a surprise gift. Well, no luck but her generosity was so praise worthy…for she helped so many needed families. They all truly desired the blessings they received. I am sure that others need it just as much if not more so than my family. However, some small token of generosity to them would be a miracle.
Anyway, I had gotten your magazine and saw your generous contest and entered yesterday but I am unable to enter today. The code is 150 with the holly icon. Maybe, somehow this could be placed in my file so my family may have a chance. I will certainly keep trying.
I would be so happy to have them receive a trip to see you and Ellen. A gift of a lifetime..such a joy!
I apologize for this lengthy email and the crazy yet true story but thank you for reading it and for your time and consideration.
May God bless you for all you have done to make this world a better and loving place.
    Respectfully yours,
    Jean Sbaraglia

    Dear Oprah,

I don’t have a sad story to tell you, I just want to tell you that I am blessed to be in the land of the living. In May of 2005 at work I was rushed to the hospital because I had three seizures back to back (I never had a seizure before) and when I awoke I was told that there was a tumor on my brain the size of a soft ball. Oprah to make a long story short, 4 years later God has blessed me through my surgery and rehabilitation. I lost my job of 20 years; my husband and I are struggling to keep our home from going into foreclosure and also trying to pay our bills on time. But I can’t complain because the tumor was not cancerous, but I have to take seizure medication for the rest of my life.

Oprah I wish all the participates will in: The 12-Day Give-A-Way. I have all the codes but I’m unable to get onto your page, oh well next time.

    Peace & Grace

Hi Oprah, want to share with you and maybe someone else joy that I have finially learned…..I could have a sad story, but not as many in our world…. this I then know what little I have is way more then others, and I say thanks, always no matter how small, even if it is to find my favorite ice cream on sale 2 for one. I do know that feeling you express about giving to a person outside family or friends, you know it was something good when you feel it in your heart and that is priceless. What family I have we are not close ….Holidays I try to lift my spirits through faith,I have no family( kinda messed up )but I’m not alone…..I have God ,Jesus, and all the angels around me, in fact the next time someone asks you if your talking to your self , just tell them your talking to Jesus . Now I have never read the BIBLE and I know I should, that is what I hear constantly. Education only through living,(can’t blame, no ones fault but mine )…learned (if there is a Will there Is a Way), so that tells you what type of income I have….but I’am blessed with benifits. lot of messed up relationships, never married , no children. My body hurts but refuse to show weakness .Soooo with all of this I will be the BIG 52 , my B-day is around yours the 28th….I feel I have a lot to give if it is just to make one person laugh in a day, or go through the garbage @ work to pick out the cans that the lazy ones toss with out taken into consideration of the world they are leaving behind for there children , and I don’t waste time anymore to try to figure why they are like that …….because I know that I’am unigue and no matter, I can make a differance and I know the feeling of Joy and this is priceless. Happy Holidays, Happy Giving.

    Dear Oprah

I have never won anything from giveaway and would love to win something just once. I am on disability because of an irregular heart and depression. In June I had to move in with my daughter because of my medical conditions and in October I was diagnosed with breast. Cancer and the doctors also told me that I have a valve leak in my heart. I also just found out that I have severe nerve damage in my right ear,so I don’t hear hardly anything andmy left ear also has nerve damage they are going to try to put ear plugs in to help but the damage is irreversable. I had surgery two days befor thanksgiving an still do not know until the 7th of December if I am to have chemo before my radiation which I have to have six weeks of. It seems the lymph nodes they removed were for the most part clear except for a .15mm or a “smidgeon”as the surgeon called it , so it’s still up to the oncologist wether or not I get to skip the chemo and go right on to the radiation. I also. Have some masses on my right cheek that are being asperated on the 18th oh this month to make sure they are not cancerous also. I love u and Ellen and ally have done to help the less fortunate. My daughter and son-in-law are in health care so they travel slot an I do not know how to drive so it’s been hard trying to find a way to all these surgeries and appointments, but with the grace of God and a whole lot of prayer, I will be able to beat these devils that are trying to invade my body. I have a long road ahead of me but I try not to get too down. I will miss you’re show but we all know your goodness God blessed u with will carry u to another mission. Thank you for listening to me and may God always keep u as beautiful inside as u are outside

Sure, I would like to win the 12-Day Holiday Give-O-Way but I won’t get the chance if when I try entering online, I keep getting the message “We’re sorry, this sweepstake is not accepting entries”. Hope my chance is better tomorrow.

I just read December’s “O” and throughly enjoyed the lift it gave me to see you and Ellen having so much fun together. I’ve forgotten what fun was all about. I’m 59, raised an ADHD son a daughter with three personality disorders (bipolar being one) and trying to find myself again. My good husband and I had our first vacation together in twenty years, October of 2008. Had a horrid accident on our way home, but dearly love the memories. I don’t write to ask for a gift, I write to send my love to you and Ellen for just being who you are. God bless you both!

I am happy to have the opportunity to take part in the 12 day Holiday Give-O-Way. I am a recent subscriber to the O Magazine.

My first glimpse of you was back in 1987 in Africa when I rented The Color Purple to watch on my first and very own TV and video recorder. Since then I have kept myself informed about you as best as I could. In addition, moving to the States due to war in my country made it possible for me to watch so many of your talk shows on channel 7 and 10. Will miss your show when it ends.

I have a picture of my face placed in one of your pictures at our company annual picnic and my work mates and I refer to it as the Poor Oprah. LOL. You are a role model and I thank God for you. You are blessed and I believed it more when the fire in California did not destroy your home. Your new undertaken is also marked for prosperity. Keep given and you will receive in hundred folds.

    Hi Oprah,
Congratulations, on your overwhelming success you have encouraged many people to be the best they can be. I am also going to apologize because when your show first aired I told my daugher it was not going to last. It was not because of you it was that I had no faith in the industry allowing an African-American Woman a lasting television show. I am glad I was wrong because your success encouraged other young women especially African-American women to go out in the world and conquer their dreams. My daughter Nakia did just that. I use to tell her when she made it big I wanted to be in the audience when she appeared on your show. Now I have told her she needs to hurry up. Congratulations on your successes and I know we will hear of many more projects with your name on it.
    A proud African-American Woman,

I’m really nervous about the thought of you even reading thie message from me. I love what you stand for and what you do for so many people. My story isn’t any different from the rest, we all are in need of something. My fear is that I wont be able to help people like I could in the past. No i’m not rich or even well off, i’m just your average person who loves to help anyone I can. The fact that everyone in my company has been laid off is killing me, I know they need to work, but it’s nothing I can do about, and that makes me really sad. Like you Oprah I try to make wishes come true for people ( on a much, much smaller scale ) when I can. I said all of that to say Thank you for being you and giving all of us someone to be so very Proud of. If by some grace of God (or Oprah) I get to share in the 12 days of Christmas, I promise you i’ll will make other people Christmas a little brighter thru Oprah. Thanks again.

Hello Oprah. I love watching your show as well as Ellen’s everyday. It helps keep the hope alive. My life I guess I could say is good. I am a single mom with a 13 year old daughter and a two year old son. My job today consist of working for my neighbor who is retired. I cook, clean, run errands, whatever needs to be done I do it. She has three girls ranging from 16, 15, and 10. I think of them as my own. My mother passed away with cancer right after my daughter was born so I consider Dana, the lady I work for as my mom figure. It has been hard the last couple of years, can’t seem to find a good job with what I went to school for but I am thankful for what I do have and that is my family, my health. I thank God everyday. OPRAH, I also love your show like everyone else. I watch your show during late night because i am not at home from work when it’s on. I dont have real sad story either. I am just a single mother raising three kids who husband is incarcerated. trying to raise two boys is a real struggle, especially working in the education field, but i havent done it for the last 15 years because of the pay, but for the students whom i love. There are only a few of us on campus and we work in a low income area but we do it because of the students, so they can have some positive role models to see everyday. I have several whom have graduated and some whom have not still stop by and still call me with their problems and ask for help. i help as much as i can considering my situation. being a part of anything that you are a part of would be considered a true blessing to me and my family.
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you and yours. And Gayle’s family also.

Dear Oprah, I have read most of the previous days comments and would love to come to your show and Ellen’s show with my husband of 44 years,( been together for 48 years), but I don’t always feel well, but who does, and we don’t have sad stories to tell and know there are others who deserve your attention more, but I want to thank you for the past 24 years and we will miss you, maybe you could go on Ellen’s Show once a year to let all your fans who love you, that you are well and enjoying your own free time. Thank you for your generosity and hearing my comment and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR.

    Dear Oprah,
I have watched your show for many years and it is a blessing that you have helped many people out in their time of need. I my self have been struggling for the last 6 years never knowing where to go, which way to turn, what to believe or not believe in. life has never been easy for me and I’am sure not for others else well. I been laid off twice in less then 3 years and still have not found work so I decided to go back to school to work on my Duals Masters Degree in Education specializing in Corperate Training/Knowledge management and my second degree in e-learning. I’am one of J.I.U best students in the education degree carrying a 4.0 average but I’am afraid that the time is near that I will have to stop my education due to financial hardship and credit cards that are max out a long with putting money into a truck that is 12 years old. It seems all my life I have had nothing but bad luck and I wounder untill this very day if my life circumstances will ever change for the better. Being at the age of 44 I look back at my life and wish everything could of been different and everything that I have ever dream and hope for finally came true.

I would like to win this like everyone else but not for me…for my sister Roxy who never asks for anything but gives everything. She has had a hard life living in Mississippi during her entire adult life and is always taking care of someone else. She is a wonderful person but would probably never take time to sit down and enter a contest. I wish I could give her more.

Just wanted to let you know that I’ve always dreamed of meeting you. I watched your show faithfully for ever. Your give-a-way shows brought tears to me eyes because you seemed to love doing this for people that weren’t as fortunate as you in their life time. You gave so many so much happiness. Now I have been putting my codes in everyday since you started this 2012 campaign to show your humanity and kindness once again! It’s a wonderful thing in these very hard times for so many people. So just wanted to say “thank you” Oprah. You are a very fine lady with a wonderful spirit! Wish you well during the holiday season!

Hello, Christmas has not been the same since they broke in my house a few years back. My grandson was so upset he could not stop crying. I have not had a Christmas tree since. This year it will be me and my son who stays with me and I am in such a bad financial shape I cannot afford to get my two grandsons a present or their mother or my son that stays with me. Everything that could go wrong this year has including my car braking down. I thought it would be a good year since I received my masters but my health is not well and unable to get a job. But I am going to smile this Christmas pray that things get better.
