Marion Jones wants to join the WNBA. Marion Jones wants to play basketball in the WNBA having served her time for lying about steroid use in a fraud case that started 2 years ago.

In September 2008 Marion Jones was done with her 6 month prison term. While it seems like yesterday, it was 2 years ago that LALATE first reported about Jones. At the time, Jones admitted to the American public that she was lying about steroid use during the 2000 Summer Olympics.

But before track and field, Jones was the North Carolina’s starting point guard who led the school to their 1994 national championship. Jones tells the New York Times:

“It would be an interesting journey if I decided to do this. It would give me an opportunity to share my message to young people on a bigger platform, it would give me an opportunity to get a second chance.

“It’s important for people to know that it’s possible to make a mistake in your life, but it’s what you do after the mistake that people are going to remember you by.”

“How can I use my experience, my story, to help people and in the process hop on this journey of trying to make a team?”

She tells Kevin Blackistone for Fanhouse: “There isn’t a day I don’t reflect on some of the bad choices I made. But I’m not going to crawl up in a corner.
