Adam Lambert Controversy YouTube!

VIDEO! UPDATE #4- Here is the Adam Lambert AMA YouTube performance video, now the Adam Lambert “Controversy” video?
While controversy now over Adam Lambert’s AMA YouTube video of For Your Entertainment is still burning, the question is - was the original AMA video controversial to begin with at all?
Adam Lambert’s original AMA YouTube video had multiple issues at stake. But were any of them, then, really controversial?
Now since the conduct of ABC’s GMA (cancellation of Lambert’s appearance) and CBS’s Early Show (showing the Madonna Britney Spears kiss but not the Lambert male kiss), have the issues changed?
LALATE was the first to break the video on Sunday evening. At that point the video had really only two issues.
First, was the staging distracting from Lambert’s vocal talent? Did the staging overshadow Lambert’s enormous talent preventing perfect vocals to come through amid less than perfect dance routines?
Second, was the staging too much for TV family audiences, even if it appeared at 11 pm?

Those were the key issues on Sunday. Suddenly - courtesy of GMA and Early Show’s involvement - the issue switched Wednesday to whether Britney kissing Madonna is any different that Lambert kissing a male musician?
On Wednesday morning, Lambert went on CBS’ Early Morning Show. Lambert told the Early Show of his AMA performance:
“I admit I did get carried away, but I don’t see anything wrong with it. I do see how people got offended and that was not my intention. My intention was to interpret the lyrics of my song and have a good time with it.”
Lambert says the criticism he received was unjust. Lambert said Jackson grabbed a particular “item” in his performance. “I haven’t heard one peep about that…. [I]f it had been a female pop performer doing (his) moves that were on the stage, I don’t think there would be nearly as much of an outrage.”
And Lambert added this : “I think it’s because I’m a gay male.”
In advance of the CBS interview, LALATE readers were divided about the AMA performance, many feeling the vocals were overshadowed by the staging, irrespective of the subject matter of the dance routine.
“Wow Adam Lambert is one of the most gutsy performers I have ever seen. I loved his performance. Kudos to the choreographer who came up with that routine. The AMAs have always shown progressive and controversial performances but this year AdamLambert’s song topped them all. That was so hot, so close and unexpected and I know even the performers who were grabbing themselves in their own songs were like…”No He Didn’t”! That’s right he did! It was hot! This is our music of tomorrow folks and it so reflects society today. Go to any night club and you see girl on girl, guy on guy and etc. Adam was just showing folks what is out there and he did it to his song perfectly.Loved the high notes. Adam is fierce, sexy, bold and yes everyone will talk about this tomorrow! I can’t wait to see him on Ellen!”
“I was an Adam Lambert fan, but after seeing his classless demonstration … I no longer have any desire to listen to him as an individual. He had a chance to be respected for his talent, instead, he chose to impress those who are more interested in whatever it was he was trying to prove. BTW, I lost respect for Madonna and Brittany for their lame attempt at getting attention. … This wasn’t cable. Adam knew this. In our time zone, kids could have still been up. I cared about Adam based on what I saw on American idol, now that I know he doesn’t care about what’s important to me, I have no interest in defending him.”
“I too was a big fan of Adam Lambert. But that performance on AMA was way too over the top. He came across like a freak instead of a unique talent. What a waste. Let’s hope he decides to go for the music instead of the shock value.”
What do you think?

Bold, hot, brass and downright courageous! What Adam Lambert did at the AMAs was really let loose and feel the music which was really sexy! I love his new band and I really loved what they did on stage. Look out Brittany the Adam Lambert dancers are wild. He is the most current break out artist and isn’t afraid to be himself. He has edge and he is going to bring the music industry into a cultural revolution. Did he do anything I didn’t see any other artist do all ready on multiple levels of entertainment? No. Should his performance be making all that noise it is generating? No. I think folks are just going after him because he is a gay male. Love his music video to FYE and I love his CD. Can’t wait to hear Adam do more. When can I see him in the movies on some TV spots? When can I buy his clothing line and jewlery and make up. Adam Lambert needs to see underwear can anyone say Calvin Klein and Adam Lambert! Heck yes that would be controversy!

Right, like what parent would let their kids stay up to watch TV at 11:00 at night when there’s school the next day?? Great parenting skills, He was put last because they knew he performance would be more suited for adults.
And for those that say ‘I was’ a fan, were probably never fans to begin with and just needed an excuse to look like their respectable by distancing themselves from Adam any way they can. Twofacers. You may call him a freak but he’s a dang rich and pretty freak who’s on a much higher level than you are.

Adam was interpreting the lyrics of a song doing what he does best - performing!! The content didn’t both me and I would rather watch that than the murder, rape, and other violence they put on prime time TV every single night. On the other hand, I have always considered that is what remote control is for, to turn off what I don’t like. This is definately a double standard and the hype needs to stop!! Adam did nothing that others (females) have not done before him. Let’s move on…

I love Adam, his singing, his confidence and wit, everything. Who’da thunk, but his performance and his comments afterward have finally gotten us talking about how skanky female artists have been onstage for so long, and why we deem that to be just fine for kiddie consumption. Adam was fully clothed and the simu-sex in his act was stagey and humorous, not nasty, dark, and degrading like Rihanna’s schtick with the torture wheel and rifle, or professional hooker-ish like Fergie turning her butt to the camera and jiggling it. Just as the Don Imus controversy re-sensitized people to how degrading common rap music jargon had become, maybe this silly upset will prompt some female singers to put their clothes back on.

I remember in the early stage when Adam said that people should see him for his music not his personal life style and his gay admittance. He’s right. It is about the music. So having said that, yes…I can click the remote and watch something else. And I did, and I will continue to do so. Adam, it appears now, had a different agenda when it came to his music. He wants it to appeal to those it appeals to!!! And, I’m OK with that too! But, it’s not for me. So, Adam…I will NOT buy your cd’s. Your thing is not my thing. You yourself said, no body has to listen to whatever they don’t like. So true!
