This was Obama’s first State Dinner; he welcomed Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and wife Gursharan Kaur.. How many state dinners does a President normally have? George W. Bush had only 6, Bill Clinton had over 20.

Following the State Dinner last night, top subjects of discussion online were Michelle Obama’s dress, designer Naeem Khan, and Kate Couric arriving with boyfriend Brooks Perlin.

Khan describes his addition of his own jewelry to many of his outfits. He often uses the word chic. The designer stresses the appropriateness of being able to take a skirt from one stunning outfit and be able to mix and match it with another, achieve the same “Park Avenue” feel, as he describes.

Second, Katie Couric and Brooks Perlin.

In June 2009, Couric without naming Perlin, joked at the annual Class Day address in Princeton before the school’s Tigers: “I’ve been called a cougar lately … but today … I’m very happy to be an honorary Tiger instead!”

Couric also reportedly kidded about Sarah Palin: “Coming here was a real no brainer! After all, I can see New Jersey from my house!”

Perlin’s father Sanford told FOX of the Couric Brooks relationship in 2007, when Perlin was 33: “These are two private people and I respect that” . That clearly has changed. His mom Anne Perlin wouldn’t comment then, only stating: “I don’t believe in any meddling in people’s personal lives. It’s a lovely story and I hope we don’t ruin it.”
