An angry fan punched Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen in the face at local bar CJs says reports. Jimmy Clausen was punched and left with a swollen eye after Notre Dame’s loss to Connecticut.

Chicago Tribune indicates no police reports were filed. But ESPN reports the “fan” said something to Clausen who joined for his meal by family, a female, and classmates.

Clausen’s numbers are up from 2008 and 2007. This season his completion passing rate is 67.3% compared to 56.3% in 2007 and 60.9% in 2008. In 2008 he’s number of interceptions soared from 6 in 2007 to 17; this season they are at 4.

Clausen is originally from Los Angeles’ Westlake Village. For 2009 he’s 266 for 396 with 3382 yards and 23 TDs.

Clausen heads to Stanford at 8 PM ET on ABC Saturday.
