UPDATE #1 RESULTS! Here are the winners and results from Sunday’s 2009 Philadelphia Marathon! The 2009 Philadelphia Marathon drew 20,000 runners, won by John Crews for the men.

Men’s marathons top finishers were: JOHN CREWS 02:17:15, Emory Mort 02:24:31, Karl Savage 02:26:02, Cesar Lizano 02:26:13 and Conor Lanz 02:26:45.

Women’s marathon top finishers were:JUTTA MERILAINEN 02:46:44, Doreen McCoubrie 02:49:09, Rachel Leier 02:49:24, and Mary Bertram 02:49:33

The race started at 7 AM EST and will draw an additional 2,000 runners for the 8K race. Road closures include: Eakins Oval/Parkway Art Museum to 22nd,· Ben Franklin Parkway 22nd St to 16th St.,· Arch Street 16th Street to 4th Street,· 4th Street Arch Street to Race Street,· Race Street 4th Street to Columbus Blvd,· Columbus Blvd. (S/B lanes) Vine to Washington Ave.,· S/B I-95 at Washington Avenue,· Washington Ave. Columbus to Front Street,· Front Street Washington to South Street.

Said race organizers “Philadelphia Marathon, Half Marathon and Rothman Institute 8K events are completely sold out. There is no waiting list for any event.”
