News of the death of Buffalo Bills Chris Spielman’s wife Stefanie Spielman. Stefanie Spielman has died of breast cancer at age 42.

Chris Spielman issued a statement tonight to WBNS radio “Stefanie has gone home to be with the Lord.” Stefanie Spielman learned at age 30 she had breast cancer. She battled five recurrences, the last March of 2009.

Chris was a linebacker with the Bills when he decided to take a year off of football to assist Stefanie. When she lost his hair, he shaved his own.

She launched the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at Ohio State. The Fund raised more than $6 million. In 2002 she was inducted into the Ohio Women’s Hall of Fame.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced. Stefanie Spielman will be greatly missed.
