That dress resulted in Aurrda being expelled last week as profiled first on LALATE. Now Arruda has been finally reinstated. While Arruda’s university was public about expelling Arurda, today they are quiet about why she was reinstated. Arruda says of their change of mind: “I only want to go into the classroom, sit down, study and take tests”

Last week, her school published an advertisement in the São Paulo daily newspapers announcing it was expelling Aruda.

The advertisement read “Educational Responsibility – Education is made with attitude not complacency” and found that Geisy Arruda’s conduct had “resulted in a collective reaction in defense of the school environment.” The advertisement claimed Geisy Arruda was formally expelled.

But why?

Thereafter, the university retained an attorney who would issue statements about Arruda’s conduct. Universidade Bandeirantes’ lawyer, Josias de Souza, reportedly issued a statement that Arruda “always liked to provoke boys, the problem was not with her clothes, but the way she acts, talks, crosses her legs, and walks.”

But while the story may seem like something for old talk show, the Brazilian government was taking it serious. Reports say the Minister Nilcéa Freire from the Special Secretariat of Policies for Women (SPM) and the Ministry of Education were looking at the situation.

The events unfolded first on October 22. Geisy Arruda is a beautiful 20 year old student at the private university of Bandeirante University. The university is located in the in Sao Bernardo do Campo, a wealthy section of Sao Paulo.

Arruda showed up wearing a mini skirt. But is this pink mini skirt really that mini? On October 22 at 8:30 pm, Geisy went to the school restroom with friend Kelly Andrezzil. There, 20 girls went at Geisy. Andrezzi said:

“I was very afraid of what could happen, but I could not have imagined what was about to come, students were cursing Geisy, calling her ugly names and accusing her of drawing too much attention, even threatening to beat her up.”

Male students started to break into the female restroom. Amanda de Souza Augusto remembers:

“We had to slap, clinch and fight with the boys, who were trying to go into the bathroom, and trying to put cell phones between Geisy’s legs. It was an aggression, an injustice against her.”

At this point, the situation became serious with allegations of threats of assault. As many as 700 girls and guys started near rioting. When security were able to assist Arruda out of the restroom, male students started to take camera cellphone photos and record videos, that would eventually get uploaded to YouTube.

Arruda has told local press that the event was “absurd”. From there, Geisy Arruda would be booked across national tv talk shows, often appearing in or with the infamous pink-ish mini skirt, sometimes in dressed, sometimes in pants.
