Elizabeth Lambert New Mexico Soccer!
VIDEO! Elizabeth Lambert issued an apology for her New New Mexico Women’s Soccer scandal strike that became a YouTube video sensation last week. Elizabeth Lambert’s soccer scandal came during the BYU game against Kassidy Shumway.
New Mexico suspended Lambert Friday. Lambert therein said she is sorry. New Mexico coach Kit Vela issued the following words:
“Liz is a quality student athlete but in this instance her actions clearly crossed the line of fair play and good sportsmanship.”
“Clearly is right.
The video became the biggest broadcasted video of women’s soccer this month, replaying on ESPN SportsCenter and going viral online. Online reaction included the following remarks:
I? am sure her parents are sooooo proud.
hey …. ever seen american football people get? paralyzed during games
her behavior was criminal. She brings shame to her school and her sport.?
She needs to be charged with assault. I wouldn’t let her? do that to me.
In the end her team lost.
Lambert issued the following statement Friday: “My actions were uncalled for. I let my emotions get the best of me in a heated situation…. This is no way indicative of my character or the soccer player I am.”

Elizabeth Lambert should have her scholarship taken away and kicked off the team permanently. She could have broken that girls neck and killed her. She is a criminal.

“This is no way indicative of my character or the soccer player I am.”?! Are you kidding me? Has no one told this…individual (ahem).. that ACTIONS speak louder than words? It is the former that reflects the spirit and mindset a person, the latter can be spouted even by animals. And in this case, the words spoken carry about as much weight as “Polly wanna cracker.” She can say she’s a great player all she wants, but apparently she’s not good enough to play above her opponents level without resorting to underhanded, self-serving cheating.

I think you are all wrong! I went to High school with Liz. . Now I didn’t personally know her, but I knew of her and for three years I knew she was a SUPER sweet girl! We all do things in the heat of the moment. . . she said she was sorry get over it! If it was a boys team it wouldn’t even be talked about!!!!!!!!!

That is precisely when someone’s character shows through. A violent yank on the pony tail in the “heat of the moment” can do serious and permanent damage to the person’s cervical spine. Clearly ‘Liz’ is not a quality sportsman, as there were 3 episodes of ugly sportsmanship by her in this game. A person reveals their true selves under duress and I would say the person she has revealed is not of quality.

Her conduct was outrageous. She is a product of our “win at all cost” culture in high school and college athletics. She should be banned from the sport and her athletic scholarship revoked. I also believe she should be criminally prosecuted. She belongs in jail.

I think the violent sentiments stated by some individuals on this blog are examples of the kind of thinking that lead to Liz’s completely unacceptable behavior. “knock the bitch out” and talk of putting a bullet in her ugly lesbian head are examples of the kind of language that promote this type of behavior and overall reflect the violent and uncivilized attitude of both some college’s sports teams and the mentality of many individuals in the general public. I agree with David that she is a product of the competitive and violent competitiveness we foster in children therefore I don’t think she belongs in jail- while she should be banned from soccer, this is symptomatic of a much bigger problem, especially considering her nice demeanor apparent throughout high school.

This girl willfully and repeatedly assaulted the opposing team’s players during this game. It was no accident or isolated incident. She should be gone, from the team, from sport, from the school’s list of scholarship athletes.

I suspect that she is at New Mexico (a state college) on a scholarship, which means taxpayer money went to support this “player.” I think taxpayers have a right NOT to spend their money on a dirty, anti-social, cheating criminal. As such, I think NM should revoke her scholarship and ban her from sports.

what liz did is understandable but wrong–she was pumped up from the game, maybe had some roids in her system, and made a snap decision to do something really stupid. she’s an angry person with some real issues.
i think a lot of people posting have the same issues she has, or even worse if you get that upset over just watching an online video. KillLiz is an example on this forum, there are plenty of examples on other forums.
these people should get the same kind of help Liz is getting–professional counseling.

I cant believe people are not commenting on what these so called victims were doing. Before Lambert even touched two of they she got elbowed in the gut and one girl tried to yank her shorts up into her crotch. I would be pissed too. Did anyone check out the behavior of the other girls to see if they have a habit of doing that sort of things to other players? I bet not.
Sure Lambert went way overboard.. I am not denying that. But the other girls are definately out of line as well but you dont see them in the limelight.
