Yankees Parade 2009!

When is the Yankees Parade? Your 2009 New York Yankees Ticker-Tape Parade is Friday at 11 am through the Canyon of Heroes, a route the Yankees haven’t taken in 9 years. In arriving at the Yankees Parade, you will be greeted with 3.5 million other fans.
Live streaming video coverage online will be provided here if you can’t attend. The Parade will pass the same Canyon of Heroes route that Yankees players have passed before – from Battery Park, up Broadway, through the Financial District, arriving at City Hall Plaza. There at the Plaza the team will be presented by Mayor Bloomberg with the keys to the city.
With 3.5 million fans attending the 1996 and 1998 Yankees Parades, don’t be surprised if the 2009 Parade Friday sets a new record.
And expect a possible separate float for Matsui. Traditionally, franchise players ride on converted double decker buses and the MVP on their own float. Last night, Hideki Matsui owned game 6 as LALATE was reporting all night long. In the end, the MVP award went to Hideki; “It’s awesome. Unbelievable. I’m surprised myself. It’s certainly different. All I can say right now is I feel great.”
And despite the tons of paper to fall and millions to show up, the parade is expected to be financed by NYC & Co. The 2008 Giants Parade, with a cost of $331,0000, was almost fully financed by NYC & Co. The same is expected for Friday.
After the parade, an expected private affair is anticipated at City Hall.
As covered last night on LALATE, expect NYC Transit to announce Thursday adjustments to normal subway and bus travel because of additional passengers Friday, especially the Number 6 train near Bowling Green. (As of 8 am Thursday, no MTA announcement has been issued.)
Stay with LALATE for live coverage of the parade Friday.
