SEPTA has gone on Strike! SEPTA’s strike closes all subway, bus and trolley service. The SEPTA Transport Workers Union Local 243 Strike started moments ago at 3 am EST. It is affecting counties of Bucks, Montgomery and Chester.

Hundreds of thousands of commuters now Tuesday must search for alternative means of transportation as the surprise came as a schock to early morning travelers. Local 243 and SEPTA have yet to issue a statement.

SEPTA provided 928,000 trips daily. Now as many as 425,000 passengers are forced to seek other transportation. Many found out when they arrived at their stations. Most workers said they had no notice, complaining the absence of even a text or call.

The SEPTA strike has been called “irresponsible” by Governor Rendell and Mayor Nutter calls it “outrageous”.
