Larry Johnson Slurs!

Larry Johnson’s slurs scandal is not going away with news that Johnson will appeal a suspension for the slurs. Larry Johnson’s slurs might very well be the most expensive penalty yet as result of a NFL player’s conduct allegedly on Twitter.
The price tag – $600,000.
That’s the price of a one game suspension dealt to Johnson today by the Chiefs. While not giving enormous detail behind the suspension ruling, the Chiefs now face an appeal by Johnson.
While Larry Johnson wants your forgiveness in issuing an apology, he also wants his money. Yes, Johnson is now fighting the one game suspension that will cost him $600,000. His attorney tells AP that Johnson today will file an appeal stating Johnson “respectfully disagree(s) that the punishment they propose is warranted by the facts or allowable by the collective bargaining agreement.”
The tweet comments by Larry Johnson started initially on Sunday; Johnson was heating up Twitter with a series of comments against rookie head coach Toddy Haley.
One tweet read “My father played for the coach from “remember the titans.” Our coach played golf. My father played for redskins briefly. Our coach. Nuthn.”
During that series of Twitter posts came a reported use of the slur. Then Monday the Kansas City Star said Johnson used the slur again when he wouldn’t speak with reporters. “Johnson turned away and whispered Get your f— out of here.”
Larry has since issued an apology (even though he still wants his paycheck).
“I will do my best to learn from this one as I move toward becoming a better person, teammate, and member of the Kansas City Chiefs team and community.”
“The words were used by me in frustration and they were not appropriate. I did not intend to offend anyone but that is no excuse for what I said”
“I regret my actions. The words were used by me in frustration, and they were not appropriate,” he said through a spokesman. “I did not intend to offend anyone, but that is no excuse for what I said.”
Johnson apologized to “all the kids who view athletes as role models. I was not a good role model yesterday and hopefully I can become a better role model. We all make mistakes, and the challenge is to learn from them.
Ironically Johnson’s meek performance on the field this season has hardly warranted his salary level in the first place. Johnson has been below average this season with just 358 yards, 132 rushes, and far cry from the 1800 yards he ran in 2006 as a former two time Pro Bowler.
