Dean Cage’s Story

The story of Dean Cage and how the Innocence Project could change his life is covered on CNN today and tomorrow. Dean Cage turned to the Innocence Project following a conviction that was to put him decades behind bars.
The story is about the lives of Jewel Mitchell and Dean Cage who had no record, and in this case no physical evidence against him. But testimony in an assault case sentence Dean Cage to 40 years behind bars just before him and Jewel were to marry.
The Innocence Project (innocenceproject.org) launched in 1992 has overturned wrongful convictions of 244 persons serving jail using DNA evidence. But with limited funds, the non profit can’t handle the 200 to 300 requests per month it receives over night.
Once in jail, Dean quickly contacted the Project. In the meantime, Jewel stood by her. In the end the results would decide if Cage had been wrongly convicted. The results of their test air on CNN Tuesday.
