Well first not everyone is doing bad in this recession, some of us know how to save for a rainy day therefore when I heard that the jeans were at Nordstroms I knew they would be a little to expensive like all of you should have,therefore if you can not afford them oh well they advertised some Lee jeans buy those it is really not that serious,this is America freedom of speech everyone is bashing Lori if that is how she feels that is her opinion like we all have one.

Ponce must actually be CJ because that is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. Support her because she’s black? Why, is she a starving black fashion designer? Far from it. And then you go on to suggest we have a man sacrifice to buy us a pair of these ridiculously priced jeans? That may be the way Cookie got her lifestyle, but that doesn’t make it right. I’m sure if all the money Magic has provided her was gone, Cookie wouldn’t spend more than $80 on these jeans.

Here we go again, in response to Ponce. Why does everything have to be about race! This has nothing to do with race. I support any entrepreneur and applaud their success, this is what our country is about. I don’t care what CJ’s race is, it has nothing to do with the outrageous price of her jeans. Please, get over yourself. I am sorry, but this narrow mindness is just getting so old and I for one am tired of hearing it. The only thing that matters is we all bleed the same color. Our differences are in our ethics and the way we see things, no more and no less and those are available in all the colors of the crayola box.

Of course, I saw the jeans on Oprah and would love to buy a pair but the price is outrageous. Even if I could afford them I don’t believe I would purchase them. It is a matter of ethics and greed on CJ’s part. I am sure she must be getting at least a 300% mark-up. The jeans are great but remember there are other women whose pockets are not as deep as the Johnson’s who like to be able to afford something nice for themself and truly deserve it.

Ladies… ladies… Don’t hate. I’m sure Mrs. Cookie Johnson has received great advice from very savvy marketing advisors concerning the SRP for CJ Jeans. Some of you may be naive to believe that Oprah’s fans consist of only the average working woman. Oprah’s show touches the minds and hearts of every walk of life including the rich and famous. So don’t be mad when she occasionally helps market to a class above you. Be supportive of another black entrepreneur. We all HAVE opportunities to make the best of the talent God has bestowed on us, yet we surround ourselves with people who mark dreamers in their face or consistently entertain us with parties, clubbing, or drinking whenever we have a few extra bucks. I don’t mean to be spiteful by stepping on a FEW toes; but if you put your heart and soul into something that launched big, you will not disregard your ambitions to suit the less fortunate.
Keep voicing your concerns about the prices, but don’t expect to get this product at your price. Enough voices may inspire her to break with another line of jeans that fit the price range that you seek. Ladies please support this new entrepreneur with admiration. Some of you have a man or significant other who may sacrifice for a pair of CJ’s for you. May God continue to bless us all.

I found Levis 528 curvy cut jeans on sale for $29. They are the first jeans that fit my 38″ hips without gaping at my 25″ waist. They come in both skinny leg and boot cut, in a variety of washes.

Well, I have a booty, but not enough of the money kind to even think of buying these jeans; at least Oprah pointed out the JCPenney option.
That’s not a “splurge” for many of us; it’s unthinkable. I’m a part-time teacher, not a health insurance CEO!

What in the world does the reference to True Religion jeans have to do with anything? Both prices are outrageous! If you can’t afford CJ why would you ponder if they complained about the True Religion price?
I haven’t googled the designer of the latter, but I’m guessing this is some veiled attempt to bring racisim into the matter. I truely hope not.

i was so excited when Oprah said that she found the perfect jean for woman that have a booty!! However, when I heard the price i thought….yeah right i could never buy a pair of jeans for more than $100!! It was nice imagining how nice i could look with does jeans…lol I might try the Lee jeans!!!

Thank you LG. I agree. And Lori, I doubt that anyone posted their concerns about the price while they have a pair of True Religions in their closet. Use a little common sense before you post things like that. These comments don’t seem to me to be negative, they’re a valid concern that it seems a majority of the women seem to have, and these are women that want to purchase this product but cannot because of the ridiculously high price. Cookie Johnson didn’t make jeans for curvy women, she made them for women that can afford to shell out $200 for a pair of jeans, while the rest of us use that money towards living expenses.

I am also one of the ladies who would love to have one or two pairs. I have NEVER found a jean that would fit my behind and waist. Unfortunately I couldn’t afford them so, I guess I will be going with the LEE Jeans that was suggested on Oprah’s show.

I agree, while the boy jean looks really cute and comfortable, I am a school teacher and I can not afford the jeans, they are waayyyy to expensive, I could see them being maybe $50 to $60 dollars.

I find it interesting that Cookie and others say that the fashion world doesnt make jeans to fit us. But then she creates a great jean but no one can afford it. Lane Bryant has jeans… But Cookie, I am sure your jeans rock. Can we please lower the price. Remember when you said most of American woman are size 10 and up?
