Nike Women’s Marathon 2009 Results!

Results are coming in for the 2009 running of the Nike Women’s Marathon. The Nike Women’s Marathon uses the same course since 2005, starting near Union Square, passing the TransAmerica building, the Wharf, and returning back to home.
The Nike Women’s Marathon and half marathon courses will remain the same as the courses have been since 2005. The race will kick off in Downtown San Francisco at Union Square and head through the financial district past the famous TransAmerica building. It will then proceed along the San Francisco Bay past Fisherman’s Wharf, Aquatic Park, Ghirardelli Square, Fort Mason and Marina Green while revealing breathtaking views of Alcatraz and The Golden Gate Bridge. The course then weaves through the Presidio and Sea Cliff districts, out to the Great Highway, through Golden Gate Park and south around Lake Merced, finishing just north of the Great Highway along the Pacific Ocean.
And even though the race is in San Francisco, there are no cable car hills on the course.
There are no cable car hills on the Nike Women’s Marathon course. Many runners find the hills a welcome challenge that offers the reward of spectacular hilltop views of the bay. The course is extremely scenic, covering most of San Francisco coastline.

I LOVE this event…this was my 2nd year participating in it. (Last year was my first race ever!) But for such a large event that is so well executed for the actual weekend, I am disappointed in how poorly the nikemarathon.com site is run. The fact that it takes forever to find or locate official results…for Nike I would think this is unacceptable to their standards. I came across the same problem last year, and thought they’d take the time to correct it this year.

What a great experience!!!! And such a great cause….Still can’t beleive we actually got picked. Some of us it was the first marathon and some was just the challenge of getting in to this one, we have been tyring for 2 years. What great memories. Only complaint is that all the clothing was geared for little people.. Next year you should definately have LARGE & X-LARGE so we don’t have to buy the shirt off the guys back at the Nike Store………See Ya Next Year hopefully.
