Jon Gosselin Fired? Jon and Kate Plus 8 is now Kate Plus 8 on TLC. TLC’s Kate Plus 8 with Kate Gosselin will be the new TCL show, dropping Jon Gosselin from the title.

But is Jon fired from the TLCs show all together?

Apparently not. Jon is expected to appear in the show but not in the title row, says reports. The official statement from TLC doesn’t clarify Jon’s employment situation. Yet what the TLC statement omits seems to say more than what is included.

Eileen O’Neill of TLC explains that Kate, not Jon, “resonates” with viewers. Yet, resonates is not what Jon and Kate has done recently. The show has fallen in ratings. So how TLC knows what part of the show is resonating, and what part is failing, is not particularly clear. O’Neill says:

“Given the recent changes in the family dynamics, it only makes sense for us to refresh and recalibrate the program to keep pace with the family.

“The family has evolved and we are attempting to evolve with it; we feel that Kate’s journey really resonates with our viewers. Additionally the network is in development on a Kate project for 2010.”

And if you are wondering, O’Neill’s statement is 100% consistent with LALATE readership on Gosselin stories.

Since the Gosselin split, virtually every story run here about Kate has produced huge readership numbers, while virtually every story about Jon has been a bomb. In fact, in recent weeks, not one Jon Gosselin story has drawn any readership, showing a lack of fascination in the once reality star.

Burger King is offering a $1 Double Cheeseburger promotion that press is eating up! Burger King will sell a $1 Quarter Pound Double Cheeseburger starting October 19. Burger King made the announcement today:

RedState (redstate.com) addresses what really is Obama’s connection to ACORN through a rolodex of Bertha Lewis and contacts of Patrick Gaspard.

RedState’s ACORN Obama article hit the net last Tuesday. Now a week later it’s lead news on MSNBC Tuesday morning. The question has been addressed online since 2008, and here on LALATE – what really was Obama’s use of ACORN in the presidential election? But now potentially new evidence surfaces.

Two questions are at hand – 1. Did Obama’s campaign use ACORN to get votes in 2008? 2. Is Obama now misrepresenting his campaign’s association with ACORN? You decide.

Red State alleged the following last Tuesday:

” * Bertha Lewis is the CEO of ACORN.
* In a review of Lewis’s contacts list, which was leaked to RedState, Bertha Lewis has the office, cell phone, home number, and private personal email address of Patrick Gaspard.
* Patrick Gaspard holds Karl Rove’s position in the White House and was Obama’s Political Director during the campaign.
* In addition to Patrick, Bertha has Patrick’s brother Michael in her rolodex. She lists Michael as working at the Advance Group.
* The Advance Group is ACORN’s lobbying organization.
* In other words, besides having Obama’s political director’s contact info, the political director’s brother works for ACORN via its lobbying shop. “

RedState takes issue with Obama’s recent ABC’s George Stephanopoulos interview in which the President allegedly said the following:

“Frankly, it’s not really something I’ve followed closely. I didn’t even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money.”

UPDATE – In a second update, USC running back Stafon Johnson’s injury is a crushed neck and larynx. Stafon Johnson’s injury resulted in seven hours of surgery Monday evening. The great news – Johnson is expected to fully recover.

Here is the latest update on Trojan Stafon Johnson as of 7:00 am PST Tuesday.

On Monday, USC star running back Stafon Johnson was in the school’s weight room. Johnson was on the bench press. Something went wrong, causing the bench press’ bar to come loose from Stafon’s hand. Rather than falling on his chest, the bar fell on Stafon’s neck. Stafon Johnson began spitting blood. By 2 pm Stafon Johnson was en route to California Hospital Medical.

Today we now know that Johnson underwent seven hours of emergency surgery. By 7:30 pm PST Monday, updates on his surgery progress were not yet released.

Chris Carlisle, USC’s strength and conditioning coach, did issue a statement at the time:

“I’ve seen players have the bar slip and fall onto their chest, but never in my 25 years of coaching have I heard of someone dropping a bar on their throat”

Coach Pete Carroll says of the slip “an unfortunate accident …. our thoughts and prayers are with Stafon.”

By 6:30 pm PST, reports confirmed Stafon Johnson’s mother Kim Mallory was already at the hospital. Late Monday evening, confirmation that Johnson was critical but stable.

Today, we have good news. As of Tuesday, reps confirm the bar had slipped form Stafon’s right hand and fell on his throat, but Johnson will recover. Katreena Salgado, spokeswoman for California Hospital Medical Center, said Stafon’s injuries are

1. crushing injuries to his neck
2. severe injuries to his larynx

The hospital’s trauma medical director reporting is Dr. Gudata Hinika. Johnson is expected to fully recovery said the hospital.
