Beck’s boiling antics took to tv today in probably one clip that animal rights advocates may raise an eyebrow to. Beck sought to illustrate a point by using what appeared to be a real frog and boiling it on air. And then Beck tells you it’s a fake frog that he just killed on television.

As though boiling fake animals on television is any better.

The reported refrain by Beck was as follows:

“Barack Obama has galvanized the country, because of the sheer size of the bills he’s proposed, and the number of the bills, the urgency he’s placing on the bills. He’s forced us to think! And get involved! We have — not like John McCain, been boiled slowly — we have been tossed quickly into boiling water, and don’t forget what happens! What happens when you throw ‘em in! When you throw ‘em in, frogs into boiling water!”

Beck then tosses the frog in.

“Okay…forget the frog…I swear I thought they jumped right out. But they don’t … Forget about the Republicans, because most of them are fake. Forget about the Republicans, because most of them are fake. And forget about the frog, because it was fake!”

Glenn is a most effective communicator. He knew exactly what he was doing and he wanted to make an impression on the viewer that he would never forget- the analogy of the frog and the way the water temperature is raised between John McCain and Obama. And he is right.
