MAP! Here is another fire map showing the threat to Acton California. The Acton Fire is prompting the Governor to urge residents to evacuate now.

As of 12 noon Sunday PST, the Acton Fire within the last hour has prompted swift new evacuations. The Station fire is now threatening a total of 12,000 homes as Acton is added to its growing spread. Schwarzenegger told press moments ago that people have suffered burns because they refused to leave.

“There will be people who don’t listen. . . Move as soon as [firefighters] say to move.”

Acton Evacuations are as follows: 14 Freeway from Soledad Canyon Road to Crown Valley Road; Aliso Canyon Road from Soledad Canyon Road to Angeles Forest Highway.

Closed Onramps / Offramps: 14 Freeway at Soledad Canyon Road, Agua Dulce, Escondido Canyon Road, Red Rover Mine Road and Crown Valley Road.

Three residents were burned in rural Big Tujunga Canyon, three to five homes lost.

MAP! Here is a live Station Fire Map. This Station Fire Map for the La Cañada Flintridge blaze shows the advance of the fire since Saturday.

While LALATE reported on Saturday that 5000 homes were threatened, that number is now at 10,000. As of Saturday the Station Fire remained only 5% contained; that percentage is the same now at 11 am Sunday.

The fire is heading toward – but not yet threatening – Altadena. Also of concern is the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Mt. Wilson – the communication hub for southland broadcasters.

On alert now is areas of Crown Valley, Soledad Canyon and Aliso Canyon, all on evacuation. Also added is Acton. Four injuries have been reported.

Mandatory evacuations are in place for homes on: Starlight Crest Drive, Greenridge Drive, Forest Green Drive, and Ridge Court, and those on the La Cañada Flintridge Golf Course.

An Evacuation Center is set up at La Cañada High School. The school is located at 4463 Oak Grove Drive.

MAP! Here is a map and forecast for Hurricane Jimena whose projected path is Baja. Hurricane Jimena’s projected path puts Baja California on hurricane watch Sunday.

Jimena, which wasn’t even on the hurricane tracking list as of Friday, has seemingly come out of nowhere. Now Jimena is set to become a category 4 hurricane with wind gusts already approaching close to 150 mph.

As of 8 am PST Sunday, the National Weather Service issued the following warning on Hurricane Jimena.

The Chicago Triathlon results will be in shortly as Chicago’s Downtown Lakefront and Monroe Street Harbor host the 2009 Chicago Triathlon, the third of five in 2009 Life Time Fitness series.

The event started at 6 am local time moments ago. Current leaders in the series are Matt Reed (USA) and Andy Potts (USA), in the Men’s Professional Division, and Becky Lavelle (USA) and Rebeccah Wassner (USA) in the Women’s Professional Division.

Says organizers:

Reed and Potts enter the event in a three-way tie with Australian Greg Bennett for the Series lead. Bennett will not compete on Sunday following a bike accident on a July training ride. Lavelle and Wassner are tied at the top of the standings with Americans, Margaret Shapiro and Sarah Haskins, within striking distance. The Professional field will battle for the event’s $67,000 purse with the winner in both the Female and Male divisions taking home $10,000 each. In addition to the cash prizes, the winners also will earn 10,000 points in the Life Time Fitness Triathlon Series Race to the Toyota Cup.
