Throwing innocent animals, who trust humans to take care of them, into a pit where other dogs rip them apart is beyond criminal. Torturing dogs to death by drowning, hanging or electrocution is done by people who have no compassion – a sociopath, perhaps. So dogs are not human, but they do feel pain. My hope is that some immense lineman, who sees that MV has not expressed remorse about the torture, will bring on some real pain to MV.

Seriously, why in your eyes is it “always about race?” If you are gonna perpetuate this courageous conversation, then can ypou please explain yourself and give proof and examples so we “white” people can understand your viewpoint. Why can’t it be about right and wrong? Don’t you think Vick needes to show up now? He talked his talk, now walk his walk…OFF the field way more than on it? He should put his $$$ or his integrity where his mouth is. Actions speak louder than words…let’s see if his do. I disagree that this is about angry white folk who want him to suffer. It is about manning up…I will be the FIRST to say he is deserving of the opportunuty he was given if he does what he said he would do. Time will tell…Also, just cuz he didnt sign up to be a role model doesnt mean kids who are influenced by athletes, performers and thugs aren’t looking up to him as one. Out

Just wanted to add that I totally agree with Bordega, I am glad a white person has stepped up and finally admitted this, You all don’t like to hear when someone is pulling your card. You miss one point, It’s always about race! If it were a white man killing a dog, you’d slap his wrists. You want him to work at McDonalds, why? If thats the case why would he be allowed to work anywhere especially around peoples food. Every negative blog I have read says the same of angry white people who want him to suffer, and the first thing they say is he shouldn’t be allowed to make this money.(Jealousy) Of course you won’t come right out and say it but it’s there and always will be. I also want to make the comment that none of you know this man personally and how would you know if he is remorseful or not. I understand he is in the public eye, but just because you sign up as an prof. athlete doesn’t automatically push you to role model status, who made that rule up!

I personally am happy for Vick, people make mistakes all the time and this was a mistake he made. It is not for us to judge, GOD judges and he forgave him if he asked for forgiveness,which is why his prayers for finding a job was answered. It’s not fair the way everyone is treating him, he has served his time and also needs to make living to eat. Mike, I just hope you keep your head up sweetheart because there are so many haters out here and a lot of them are just jealous. Shoot, half of them are probably dog fighters themselves or doing something illegal. Just put your past behind you and move on babe, Peace!

If he needs a job let him work at the concession stand.
There are a lot of talented players waiting for a chance to play in the NFL. He paid his debt legally but not morally. He isn’t even remorseful. He sounds rehearsed and is only doing the thing with the Humane Society because he has to. The Eagles are bottom feeders for taking him on. Plain and simple. I will never buy anything that advertises during Eagles games. Also, I clapped my hands and smiled when I heard some fans are selling their season tickets saying if the Eagles sold out so will I. For those people I am sorry your Eagles let you down. But I commend you for selling those tickets. How can any dog lover sit there and clap for him?

Hey, Billy… So you want to know why we don’t go after all the other dogfighters as hard as we’re going after Vick? Let me explain this to you… Michael Vick is different because he is an entertainer in the public eye, and so therefore, he is a role model (what a joke). And what if his crime had been raping women and children and served his time for it? Would it then be okay to sign him on to the NFL so that he can make millions of dollars and live the high life again? He doesn’t deserve it. Yes, he needs to work… and McDonalds is always hiring.

Bodega it never fails that there is always someone who makes every situation about race. Your so caught up in your own negativty that you don’t even evaluate the situation correctly. Michael Vick is being humiliated because he is a professional athelete and a roll model to kids. Now your neighborhood thug who shoots another black man is not in the public eye because white people dont care? Good luck getting through life with this attitude… You personally, probably looked up to that thug, but there were millions of kids who wanted to be michael vick..
Whatever happens is going to happen. Just don’t try and justify what he did to those poor dogs that instinctively love humans and depend on them.

I loved the cover and am having it framed for my office. It is because of people like Vick that the parents of the 17 year-old who raped my neice asked the judge to suspend his sentence because he would miss his senior football season. They told the judge their son had the possibility of becoming a star and that going to Glen Mills would hurt his possibility of becoming a star. Not only was my family stunned but thankfully the Judge was speechless.

If Vick doesn’t perform should he be tortured to death? Hmmmm, anyone have some jumper cables and a battery I can borrow?

Good point Drew…would’ve been nice, highly unlikely to mandate, but it would’ve been nice. I sincerely doubt anyone feels he is “entitled” to a career in the NFL, but rather he is legally allowed to obtain employment in his chosen profession…his just happens to be that of a very high profile athlete. In regards to HM’s final statement, the same argument can be made for the inverse: Would you be decreeing his employment so vehemently if he were a street sweeper, bank teller, or some other profession that doesn’t have the same social visibility. He has been disciplined by nation and league and in as much, gets a second chance to prove his rehabilitation. The true point being that third chances, are and should be, not forth coming if he fails again. Though I am disgusted by his acts, his squandering of millions, and the waste of his god-given talents; he is afforded the rights of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”. Let’s just hope his pursuit is no longer in such a repugnant manner.

I’m pretty sure hm just called vick a molester and a rapist. that seems pretty harsh. yes. the guy has the ability to kill animals. yes. that is incredibly messed up. no. i doubt he has ever molested anyone and to add rape to the sentence qualifies it as ridiculous. yes. he deserves a second chance just like the rest of America. I agree with Drew. Let him earn and force him to donate half his salary to the animal charity of his choice. half his salary, every year no matter the amount he is making. The courts should have forced him to write a one dollar check to the humane society every week for the rest of his life. I hope he has learned his lesson and truly works to become a better human being. Good Luck Mike. P.S. This was hard to say as I am a Cowboys fan

Hard to say whether Vick is contrite because he truly feels badly, or because he was caught and public contrition is always part of the penance for “the caught.” I guess each person has to ask themselves, honestly, when SHOULD punishment for a crime actually stop? Personally, I think it would have been fitting if the NFL had stipulated that, in return for the honor of being allowed to return, Vick should have to give fully half this year’s salary to the Humane Society, and a certain % every year following. Now THAT would be contrition.

Dear Billy, did you know that many rapists and molesters get their start by abusing animals? Michael Vick doesn’t “deserve” anything. Throwing money at something or doing time does not give you a clean slate, especially when victims who survive pay for the rest of their lives, let alone give you an entitlement to something. All life is valuable. Once a life is gone, whether human or not, we do not have the ability to get it back, and as a society we should not trust anyone who shows a propensity to do such harm absent evidence that they have changed. Seriously, if he wasn’t a football player/celebrity, would you feel the same way?

Ok he killed some dogs…I am very against that but he has paid for it now let’s move on. Are all of you people saying that this man should not work at all and should just die on the street from starvation? He deserves to work and feed his family it just so happens that he plays a sport what about all the other people are dog fighting why don’t you go after them as hard as you are going after M.Vick. On that note why not take some of this energy and put it against some of the people that are raping women and children. Why not take this energy and put it to use to putting these perverts that like to touch little kids in jail……I love dogs but a dog is not a human let’s put things in perspective.
