Here is the latest map of Hurricane Felicia’s projected path for Kauai, Hawaii. Then Hurricane and now Tropical Storm Felicia is near Hilo and heading for Kauai by Wednesday.

LALATE has been monitoring Felicia for days. But while she has weakened, the concern for potential flooding still requires attention.

Monday evening, the National Weather Service issued the following update on Hurricane Felicia for Hawaii residents:

FOR THE CENTRAL NORTH PACIFIC…BETWEEN 140W AND 180

This special tropical weather outlook is being issued to provide updated information on the system located 920 miles southwest of Kauai.

1. The Central Pacific Hurricane Center is issuing bulletins on tropical storm Felicia, currently about 205 miles east-northeast of Hilo, Hawaii and moving west about 10 mph. Public bulletins are being issued under AWIPS header TCPCP2 and WMO header WTPA32.

2. The strong tropical disturbance about 920 miles southwest of Kauai has evolved into a tropical depression. Further development is expected during the next 48 hours as it moves west northwest at near 15 mph.
