Thankfully the bag has been found. Where was the bag last seen? Oh, in outer space.

Heidemarie Stefanyshyn Piper is an astronaut who recently lost her tool bag during a spacewalk. Since then the $100,000 tool bag has been tracked by NASA as its floated around Earth, for months. This week the bag re-entered the Earth’s atmosphere and burned up. NASA said in a statement the following:

“Based on its size and composition, we expect the object to completely burn up before hitting the Earth.”

Stefanyshyn-Piper told press in November the following about the bag:

“There was that split second thinking that, maybe I can go jump for it and grab it. Then I realized that it would just make everything worse and then we’d have two floating objects, one of which would be me.

“So the best thing to do was just to let it go.”
