PHOTO! Here is a picture of Fanne Foxe (Argentine Firecracker) covered on TV today. Fanne Foxe gave Rep. Wilbur Mills (Democrat) alot as a stripper, and for politics gave us historically the first political * scandal.
The year was 1974 and Mills, not a particular handsome type of guy, was chairman of the Ways and Means Committee. Well, whatever way, and by whatever means, Mills had attracted the eye of a stripper Fanne Foxe who on stage was referred to as the “Argentine Firecracker.”
Initially the two were stopped in a vehicle driver by Mills. What did Fanne do? The Foxe jumped for it, right into the Potomac River, and swam away.
Mills got elected. But then months later, he was found drunk in a car outside a nightspot where Foxe was dancing. That ended his career but started what historians tell press today “first * scandal of the modern era”.
