Here are the latest details on the Amanda Rodrigues Gatti developing story.

On Saturday LALATE told you first that former boxer Arturo Gatti was found dead. Then reports of foul play were released - blood stains on Gatti’s body but no gun or knife wounds. Finally, Sunday a major break.

A spokeswoman for the Pernambuco state civil police said Gatti suffered a head injury and strangulation by a purse. Authorities say they are preparing a formal accusation against Amanda Rodrigues Gatti.

Officials quickly released indications of why they suspected Gatti’s wife. They claimed Rodrigues, who is Brazilian, had no explanation how she was inside the same room 10 hours with Arturo Gatti and never noticed he was dead. Police found Gatti with blood on his body, laying on the floor in his underwear.

On Saturday, Family friend Acelino “Popo” Freitas told Globo TV’s  that he recently “knew they were having some sort of problem and were about to separate.”

On Sunday, new witness reports claim the couple was jealous of each other, fought Friday night, and Gatti was drunk.

Currently, Amanda Carina Barbosa Rodrigues is inside the Recife city police station, police calling the crime a homicide, and indicating Monday they were release further details in a press conference. Gatti was 37.
